    Nov 11 2024

In this sermon, Pastor Chan teaches through the various evidences that we have as believers as to whether our faith is genuine.

    Today's Sermon Text: 1 John 3:1-24

Main Idea: 1 John 3 emphasizes the love of God and the importance of living as His children. The chapter highlights God’s great love, and the importance of living in purity. The passage warns against sin and contrasts those who live righteously with those who do not. John urges believers to show genuine love for one another in actions, not just words, as love is the defining mark of God’s children. The evidence of faith is to keep God’s commands, abide in God, and live through the Holy Spirit.

In this message, Pastor Chan continues our verse-by-verse study through the book of 1 John.

    Today's Message Text: 1 John 2:18-27

Main Idea: In this passage, John warns his readers about “antichrists”—those who deny Jesus as the Christ and lead others away from the truth. He emphasizes that many false teachers have arisen and will continue to arise. John reassures believers that they have received the Holy Spirit, who helps them discern the truth. He encourages them to remain steadfast in what they have been taught and to continue abiding in Christ to resist deception.

In this message, Pastor Chan continues our verse-by-verse study through the book of 1 John.

    Today's Message Text: 1 John 2:12-17

Main Idea: In this passage, the Apostle John addresses different groups of believers, affirming their spiritual status and growth in faith. He writes to children, fathers, and young men, acknowledging their forgiveness through Christ, their knowledge of the Father, and their victory over the evil one. Believers are warned not to love the world, because the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life are not from the Father but weapons of the enemy. The passage concludes with this truth: the world and its desires are temporary, but those who do the will of God will live forever.

  • 1 John - Part 3
    Oct 21 2024

In this message, Pastor Chan walks us through four ways that can have assurance that we know Christ and that Christ knows us.

    Today's Message Text: 1 John 2:3-11

Main Idea: In this passage, the Apostle John emphasizes the importance of obeying God’s commands as evidence of knowing Him. He stresses that genuine love for God is shown by keeping His commandments. Those who claim to know God but do not follow His commands are liars, while those who obey Him demonstrate true knowledge and love of God. John also highlights the command to love others: if someone claims to walk in the light (God’s truth) but hates a fellow believer, they are still in darkness. True followers of Christ love one another, walking in the light.

    Oct 15 2024

In this message, Guest Speaker Richard Coleman delivers a foundational message on the importance of knowing Christ, walking in the light and not in darkness, and sharing with others the message of the Gospel that we've been given.

    Today's Message Text: 1 John 1:5-2:4

Main Idea: 1 John reads much like an encouraging speech or an uplifting sermon. It is filled with inspiration and reassurance about the core truths of the Gospel, which underscore the message of the cross. Embracing love over hate and focusing on the Gospel over worldly messages were critical themes for the first century as well as for Christians today. Division and polarization are rampant in our society. It is easy to become discouraged. 1 John serves as an assurance to believers so they may know that they have eternal life with Jesus Christ.

  • Sabbath - Worship
    Sep 30 2024

Whether you observe the Sabbath on Sundays, Saturdays, or another day, it's important to remember that God tells us to "remember the Sabbath by keeping it holy." Keeping it "holy" means making it special, setting it apart, and dedicating it to God. The Sabbath isn't just a day to sleep in, relax, and do things that make you happy (though that's part of it); it's also a day to worship and refocus your life on God, who is the source of everything.

    Today's Message Text:

Main Idea: Are you tired? Weary? Worn out? Exhausted? We live in a culture where chronic low grade exhaustion has become the norm. But it doesn’t have to be this way. God created rest and modeled a rhythm of regular rest to us. The Bible calls it Sabbath, and it’s something Jesus regularly did. Sabbath is much deeper than just a day off, and it’s more enjoyable than maybe we’ve heard.

  • Sabbath - Delight
    Sep 23 2024

In our third message on Sabbath, Pastor Chan discusses "delighting in the Lord," which is to find joy and pleasure in His presence. Some followers of Jesus may think of the Sabbath as a somber, serious day full of religious duty and legalistic rules whereas other may think of it as a day to chill, relax, or sleep. Either way, many miss the essential truth that the Sabbath was designed by God as a day to experience joy and delight.

    Today's Message Text: Genesis 1:31-2:3, John 15:11, Isaiah 58:13-14

Main Idea: Are you tired? Weary? Worn out? Exhausted? We live in a culture where chronic low grade exhaustion has become the norm. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
