  • 003: Goldfinger (1964)
    Nov 19 2022
    He loves only gold.

Goldfinger was released in September 1964, following Sean Connery as James Bond through Miami, Switzerland and Kentucky, in hot pursuit of Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe), with additional pleasure and peril from Harold Sakata's Oddjob and the inimitable Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman). Pleasing p-words are pertinent with our pal this week, Princess Paige!

    Things We Mentioned:

The Best of Bond on Graham Norton Janelle Monáe performs Goldfinger at the White House Paige's Christravaganza on YouTube

A mystery MacGuffin, a beautiful consulate clerk (Daniela Bianchi), a dashing assassin (Robert Shaw), and a queer chanteuse (Lotte Lenya), acting in the role of Rosa Klebb, S.P.E.C.T.R.E. lesbian? • 001: Dr. No (1962)
    Oct 19 2022
    Bond, James Bond.

Dr. No was released in October 1962, starring Sean Connery as James Bond, a British MI6 agent sent to Jamaica to investigate the death of a fellow spy. Something weird is going on, and all signs suggest that Dr. Julius No, (played by Joseph Wiseman), is behind it.

Things We Mentioned: The Princess and the Scrivener, Sarah’s YouTube channel Castle to Castle, Mikaela’s (quite old!) podcast Does the Dog Die Darby O’Gill and the Little People on Disney+

    Welcome to episode 000.

This little-known TV-movie adaptation of Ian Fleming’s first James Bond novel, Casino Royale, came out just a year after the book. It premiered on the CBS anthology television show, Climax!, in 1954.

It stars Barry Nelson as an American James Bond, Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre, Linda Christian as Valerie Mathis (a combination of the characters René Mathis and Vesper Lynd), and Michael Pate as (the British) Clarence Leiter.
