  • Acting on the Word
    May 31 2023

Today, we will hear a message from pastor Randy Westerberg from Cross Pointe Church. He speaks on the necessity of acting on God’s Word and how easy it is to fool ourselves into thinking we are fine when we are really not. The person who does not build the foundation of their life on the word of God is on sinking sand.  From the outside, everything looks fine, but when we face the Lord on judgment day, all will be revealed. Those who built their house on the Rock will be saved, but those who did not depend on Jesus, will be lost.

This message is from Matthew 7:24-27.

  • The Stoney Heart - Ezekiel 36:26-27
    May 24 2023

Today, we are going to hear from our administrative pastor at Cross Pointe, Jared Johnson. He is currently attending Midwestern Seminary, and he is preaching on one of his favorite passages of Scripture, Ezekiel 36, and the stoney heart.

When you think of the gift of salvation, it is truly a miracle, that once we were lost but now we are found. Once, we were dead, but now we are made alive. When we think of the gift of salvation, it should make us truly grateful and humbled that God would remove our dead, stoney hearts and give us a heart that beats for him.

I once heard a story about a seminary professor who took his students to a graveyard and had them preach to the people in the graves. The students wondered why he would have them do such a thing, and he replied that this is what preaching is like. People are dead in sin, and it is only God, through his word, that can make them alive.

Today, Pastor Jared explains how God saves those who are dead in sin.

  • Successfully Sifted
    May 17 2023

Today, we will hear a message from pastor Joe Reed of Lewis Lake Covenant Church about the time when God allowed Peter to be sifted by Satan, but Jesus prayed for him.

Pastor Joe explains what sifting means in the Christian life and that although it is a difficult process, it results in our good and our becoming more like Christ. In fact, it is something all Christians go through. His message is from Luke 22:31-32

  • Is Life Vain? Lessons from Ecclesiastes
    May 10 2023

Welcome to Unfamous, the podcast where unfamous pastors preach the fame of God. Our show is about listening to local, reformed pastors who minister to small congregations, but they faithfully exposit the Word and preach from the Scriptures. These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you.

Today, Pastor Levi Secord shares with us what he has learned from an in-depth study of the book of Ecclesiastes. Ecclesiastes is an often misunderstood and often ignored book of the Bible because it can be so difficult to understand.

In our message today, Pastor Levi teaches us how to understand rightly, and he gives some pastoral application for our lives.

  • The Holy Trinity
    Apr 26 2023

Our message today comes by request from a listener. It’s a message I preached about a year ago, and it’s on the doctrine of the Trinity.

The doctrine of the Trinity used to be a huge topic of debate in the early church, but our early church forefathers battled through the controversies and gave us the doctrinal formulations of the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed. From them, we learn that God is three in one. That each person of the Trinity is fully God, yet there is one God.

Today, this doctrine is often  taken for granted, and that’s not all bad because it’s no longer a source of controversy, but it’s important to understand the teaching of Scripture on this issue, and not only that but also to appreciate it for what it means for us and our relationship with God.

  • How to Disagree and Agree for the Glory of God
    Apr 12 2023

Welcome to Unfamous, the podcast where unfamous pastors preach the fame of God. I’m your host, Cubby Westerberg. Our show is about listening to local, reformed pastors who minister to small congregations, but they faithfully exposit the Word and preach from the Scriptures. These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you.

In today’s message, we get to hear from a very special guest, who has visited and ministered to our church a number of times over the years. His name is Stuart Scott. He is not quite unfamous because he has written books and spoken around the country, but he blessed our church with this message, so I want to share it with you today.

He is a part of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, and he is a professor at Bob Jones University. He has taught at Southern Seminary as well as Master’s Seminary. His insight and wisdom in biblical counseling is second to none.

He preached this sermon at our church a few years ago on a Sunday after one of our conference weekends. Every year, Cross Pointe hosts a conference on biblical counseling that trains Christians, not just pastors, how to help one another through the difficult problems of life.

If you enjoy this message, I encourage you to check out our conference. It’s coming up this September, October, and November of 2023.

Dr. Scott’s message today shares how we as Christians can grow in unity.

  • The Permanence of the New Life
    Apr 5 2023

In today’s message, our pastor, Randy Westerberg, preaches from Romans 6:3-4 and explains what it means that we are dead to sin and alive to God. He uses a unique illustration that makes everything very clear. Basically, when a person is made a new creation in Christ, he can no longer go back to his old ways because he has been made new.

This sermon is a comfort to Christians because it assures us of the power and grace of Jesus Christ in our salvation. As I listened to this sermon, I thought of Philippians 1:6 where Paul says,

“I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” And this is true because he has made us a new creation.
