  • Childhood Sexual Trauma Effects on Adults and Biblio Therapy
    Mar 28 2023

Dr. Kate and Dr. John discuss a study on how childhood sexual trauma can still affect the victim as they get older.

They discuss the stages after trauma:

    1. First a physical response, emotional and physical pain

    2. Begin recognizing emotions, become aware, and get more power over vulnerabilities.

    3. Amelioration of event.

    Stabilization and re-acclimation.

    4. Assimilation: Making sense of it all. Understand the impact and ultimately reduction of symptoms.

There is no timeline for healing. They discuss that there’s not necessarily an “end” to healing. And the process of healing is not always linear. You don’t have to move forward all the time, one can go right or left during healing. There are no rules about how or when in individual healing.

Dr. Kate and Dr. John also recommend books to read on this subject as part of the potential healing path.

  • Rejection/Murder: When NO takes a horrible turn.
    Mar 21 2023

Today Dr. Kate and Dr. John are talking about a few specific cases and the overall issue of women rejecting men and winding up with horrible consequences. It may be flattering to be pursued, but what if you definitely want to say “not interested.”

Whether the person seems a little off base, a little strange, or is seemingly perfectly ‘normal”, people can snap when rejected. In all of these cases being discussed today, the victim knew the killer.  We will discuss the traits of men pursuing, getting rejected, and becoming unhinged.

How do you possibly know if someone is on that track? are there better ways to “say no”?  Online, in the office, or at an activity in your town, you just never know who someone really is. This haunting truth can impact our trust in others. What is the line between caution and not living in fear?

Dr. Kate and Dr. John will look at these cases and discuss all aspects of these extreme outcomes including noticing some traits of the men capable of killing triggered by rejection.

  • Self-Regulation and it’s connection to early sexual trauma
    Mar 14 2023

This is one of our Without Consent “Shorts” where we look at a subject and cover it in a short version of the podcast. Many we will go back to later and do a more in-depth look at the subject matter.

In this episode, Dr. Kate and Dr. John explore and critique an article in a medical journal about self-regulation and its correlation to early childhood sexual trauma.

They look at the archived data from 156 subjects: patients that are criminally committed.

Self-regulation has to do with how we regulate our nervous system. They explore the 4 forms of regulation from immature to mature handle on our emotional responses:

    1.          Auto Regulation

    2.          External regulation

    3.          Co-regulation

    4.          Self-regulation

  • Stalking, Cyberstalking, and Mental Traits of Stalkers
    Mar 7 2023

Actual stalking as well as Web/Cyberstalking is more readily possible than ever before. This episode reveals facts of a specific case and some important facts. This episode is about a case of stalking and the horrific facts of a man hiding in someone’s attic and filming her sleeping.

It was not a random intrusion. Dr. Kate and Dr. John point out that stalking usually happens with people you know, even if you “know” them from an encounter online.  Stalking is something everyone has to be aware of, whether using dating apps, sex sites, etc. This was targeted stalking, prevailing on someone he did “know” from the internet. A real-life intrusion.

Dr. Kate and Dr. John explore the very real phenomenon of Stalking and how the internet, more readily available info on us all, can lead to scary and dangerous results. They also talk about the feeling of entitlement of stalkers who “meet” people online and think they are friends with or own them, often being extremely delusional. They talk about other traits of a stalker to be aware of.

Also, learn about the term Phrogging and what it means: The crime of individuals secretly living in someone’s home. Phrogging can take many forms, from transient intruders to more permanent ones, in occupied homes or ones where the owner is not in residence. Victims often sense something is amiss, but easily doubt themselves and hesitate to seek help, at least at first.

Join us for a chilling and cautionary tale.

  • Sexual Violence: Fraternities and College Campuses
    Feb 28 2023

In this episode, Dr. Kate and Dr. John talk about College and Fraternity violence that has been going on from ages ago until now, with no one ever getting a handle on it. From universities using avoidance and victims self-blaming or coerced to keep quiet, it is a dangerous epidemic that continues to haunt young women across the globe during their college years.

From a Cat calling incident in Madrid to cases of women being drugged, to rape to murder, this phenomenon does not go away. The college campus is a hotbed of violence towards women (and others). Often no one is prosecuted. Maybe a few are expelled.

    Stats from RAINN:

    • 13% of all students experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation (among all graduate and undergraduate students).2
    • Among graduate and professional students, 9.7% of females and 2.5% of males experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation.2
    • Among undergraduate students, 26.4% of females and 6.8% of males experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation.2
    • 5.8% of students have experienced stalking since entering college.2

    Other stats:

    • 23.1% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students have been sexually assaulted.
    • 43% of college women who are dating have reported experiencing violence or abuse at the hands of their partner. An estimated 80% of sexual assaults on college students go unreported.

We cover points about the place of Fraternities on Campus, many being relocated off-campus to keep the College not responsible for activities.
What is the power of frats? How is it affecting the male/group psyche?
Effects on the victims, regarding their choices, to tell what happened or not.

  • The Andrew Tate Phenomenon and Toxic Masculinity
    Feb 21 2023

Andrew Tate is someone who gained viral “fame” over tik tok with millions of followers, and created “Hustler’s University”, radicalizing men to his version of what being a man is and spouting misogynistic verbiage. Tate is an entrepreneur and former kickboxing champion who ran an online course in "modern wealth creation" and came out of nowhere to become one of the most viral people on the internet for his misogynistic takes like "women can't drive," "men can cheat but women can't," or "18-19 year-old women are more attractive than 25 year-olds because they've been through less dick."

Known to his fans as the "King of Toxic Masculinity," Tate had acquired a massive following (and a steady income) as a self-help guru offering advice to young men on how to make money and talk to women. He was born in the U.S. and holds British and U.S. citizenship, has earned multiple world titles as a professional fighter, was on Big Brother UK, and is a commentator for an MMA promotion in Romania called Real Xtreme Fighting.

Tate apparently earned his fortune by running an adult webcam business called "myfreecams" with his brother Tristan. They employed women to have chat sessions with men in which the women would complain of personal tragedies and claim to be in need of money, which the men would then supply via a "tipping" feature on the site.

Tate left England and lives in Romania. In a now-deleted YouTube video, Tate claimed that Romania's lax laws on sexual assault are "40% of the reason" why he moved. He added: "I’m not a rapist, but I like the idea of just being able to do what I want. I like being free."

Tate is currently under investigation by Romanian police for human trafficking, according to The Daily Beast.
Dr. Kate and Dr. John discuss how Tate is not a fringe personality lurking in an obscure corner of the dark web. Instead, he is was one of the most famous figures on TikTok, where videos of him have been watched 11.6 billion times.

Dr. Kate and Dr. John discuss: Toxic masculinity and why Tate is appealing to many men. The effect this has on women, society and men. What defines masculinity today. Fear and anger and how it propels this behavior. And Tate’s exploitation of disaffected males, money paid to him by them and so much more.

  • Female Teachers & Sexual Abuse of Male Students
    Feb 14 2023

Over 30% of all teacher/student misconduct includes women as the offenders.

In U.S. schools last year, almost 800 school employees were prosecuted for sexual assault, nearly a third of them women. The proportion of women facing charges seems to be higher than in years past, when female teachers often got a pass. There is also evidence that the use of social media to initiate interaction may allow it to happen more easily.

It seems more prevalent to hear of older males abusing girls but in this episode, we are going to look at cases of Female teachers preying on younger boys and the psychological factors that may lead women teachers to this sexually criminal act and the effects on young boys in their future.

Dr. Kate and Dr. John discuss:

    1.   Psychological profile of the female teacher.

    2.   Different in prosecution of female vs male offenders?

    3.   Use of social media in the pursuit of male students

    4.   Long-term effects on the young male

    And so much more.
