Composed in 1066 but only now translated into English, the Garšāspnāme by ʿAlī ben Aḥmad Asadī Ṭūsī is a Persian epic that interprets Avestan and earlier Indo-European myths for the Islamic peoples of Mediaeval Iran and Afghanistan. هو في الأصل عبارة عن مجموعة من المقالات نشرت في مجلة العصور بين شهري يوليو (تموز) 1929م، ويناير (كانون الثاني) 1930. جُمعت هذه المقالات في هذا الكتاب لتلقي الضوء على أسلوب من أساليب النقد الأدبي. تناول هذا الكتاب الكاتب العربي المصري "عباس محمود العقاد" على يد كاتب وشاعر وناقد مصري مشهود له هو مصطفى صادق الرافعي. في هذه المقالات التي تمّ جمعها مُثلٌ وعينات تؤول بك إلى حقيقة هذه الأديب من كل نواحيه، وفيها الكثير الكافي.

يقول إحسان عبد القدوس في بداية هذا الكتاب:-

"ملك القطن" هي لوحة حية صادقة تمثل حالة فعلية كانت سائدة بين الملَّاك الجشعين والفلاحين المغبونين الذين يجاهدون جهادًا مريرًا لكي يستخلصوا ثمرة جهدهم من بين براثن هؤلاء المُلَّاك.

يختبيء "أحمد" لدى رفيقٍ له في مكانٍ مهجور بسبب ملاحقته من قبل العسكر لكنَّ وضعه يُصبح سيئًا عندما يتعرَّض لعضّة كلب فيناقش رفاق الحزب احتمالات مرضه وعلاجه واعتقاله لكنّهم يقررون في النهاية إقامة الحجر الصحي عليه لمدّة أربعين يومًا للتأكّد من عدم إصابته بداء الكلَب، لذلك يبقى أحمد حبيس غرفته طول تلك الفترة فيلجأ إلى رسم خطٍّ على الباب في كلِّ يومٍ ينقضي مسترجعًا ذكرياته الحلوة والمرة ما بين الحياة والملاحقة، عن الجيش العثماني والدولة في نهايتها، عن ذكريات الطلبة الذين جاءوا من مختلف دول العالم وعن حبّه الأول مع أنوشكا الفاتنة.

The poems in this small volume are often short, humorous, and reckless, like many of the poems by this author in Persian. Like this one: Who knows? / Maybe we have someone like Gandhi, / But he has not yet returned from Africa. It is not possible to comment definitively on the genre or atmosphere of the poems, but most of them wander between romantic-erotic and sociopolitical. A recent category without indigenous signs is heavily influenced by the historical confidence of the totalitarian and repressive rulers of Iran.
