This classic tale begins on Christmas Eve, when young Marie Stahlbaum and her siblings open their Christmas presents. One toy, a Nutcracker who looks like a soldier, soon become Marie’s favourite gift. That night, the Nutcracker comes to life and battles the evil Mouse King. Once Marie discovers how the Nutcracker came to be cursed, she has many decisions to make. Will she help the Nutcracker defeat the Mouse King? Will she help break his curse? And will she return to the magical kingdom, populated by dolls, to be with her beloved Nutcracker?

The Sand-Man (German: Der Sandmann, 1816) is a short story written in German by E. T. A. Hoffmann. It was the first in an 1817 book of stories titled Die Nachtstücke (The Night Pieces). The story is told by a narrator who claims to have known Lothar. It begins by quoting three letters.

Ein Nussknacker liegt an Weihnachten für Marie auf dem Gabentisch. Mitten in der Nacht erwacht die Holzpuppe zum Leben, denn der Nussknacker hat noch eine alte Rechnung mit dem Mausekönig offen. Ein turbulenter Kampf bricht los. Peter Tschaikowski (1840-1893) war ein russischer Komponist, der seit seinem fünften Lebensjahr Klavier spielte und zunächst in St. Petersburg als Beamter arbeitete. Anton Rubinstein förderte sein Musikstudium und fortan ging Tschaikowskis Musik um die Welt.

"Nussknacker und Mausekönig" ist ein Märchen, das nicht aus der reichen Volksüberlieferung stammt, sondern von dem Dichter E. T. A. Hoffmann geschrieben wurde. Es erschien erstmals 1816 in Berlin. E. T. A. Hoffmann, der auch komponierte und zeichnete, war zu dieser Zeit Richter am Kammergericht in Berlin. Als Romantiker widmete er sich weniger der Verklärung von Realität, sondern suchte nach den dunklen Seiten der menschlichen Existenz.

Zu Weihnachten erhält die kleine Marie einen Nussknacker geschenkt, an dem etwas Besonderes zu sein scheint. In der Tat: Mitten in der Nacht erwacht der Nussknacker zum Leben und ficht mit seiner Armee den Kampf gegen den siebenköpfigen Mausekönig! E. T. A. Hoffmanns Märchen gehört zu den Klassikern der Weihnachtsliteratur.

Scritto nel 1816, "Lo Schiaccianoci" continua ad affascinare grandi e piccini da due secoli. Fritz e Marie, come tutti i bambini, vivono con gioia i giorni del Natale.
