This is about a community of mostly extended families pulling together to protect their valley after a worldwide economic crash sends the entire planet into anarchy. This is how a group of determined people working together can keep their small part of the world safe (or at least safer than most places).

This is a story about four young men; lifelong friends, who find themselves in a Zombie war. Being in their 20s, they all grew up on horror movies and video games. They watched every episode of The Walking Dead, and after each week's show, they spent the rest of the week tearing the show apart, covering all the "what ifs", and "why's" and filling it in with, "If it was me, I woulda done...."

Most everything I've written deals with an event that knocks the wheels off the world, such as an EMP. I wrote the first Valley book about an economic collapse, and I know less about that subject than an EMP (which ain't a lot). But after the first one, I realized that while the world might be burning down in the cities, that didn't mean that all of civilization came to a grinding halt.

This series is about the things one would need to do and know to survive a civilization-killing event. The main purpose outside simple entertainment is that if it makes the listener think 'what if?' then it's started working. If it gets the listener doing more than thinking it's done its job. We think if the lights go out for an hour that things are rough- what if they were to go off and not come back on? Do you have food enough to carry you over until you can grow a garden?

My purpose for writing this book was to show that a thinking person can not only survive, but live well in a world gone crazy. Live well, of course, meaning compared to most. I wanted to show that one didn't need Bill Gates's checkbook to build a place to survive.
