Well-being coach, writer and presenter George Anderson talks to us about his upcoming audiobook, Beginner’s Luck Guide for Non-runners. Imparting award-winning training advice on how to slowly build up fitness levels, stay motivated and even start to enjoy exercise, George explains the reasoning behind his running programme in this exclusive interview.  

Joining us at Audible Studios is Jon Parkin, affectionately termed ‘The Beast’ by his many fans and known for indulging in full English breakfasts before training sessions. Parkin has proved his goal-scoring abilities over the years and has played for 14 different clubs in the Football League. Multiaward-winning runner and CEO of The 401 Foundation Ben Smith talks to us about his debut audiobook, 401: The Extraordinary Story of the Man Who Ran 401 Marathons in 401 Days and Changed His Life Forever. Detailing the many challenges he faced and overcame, in this interview, Ben discusses how bullying impacted him, why he decided to create the 401 Challenge and how he’s carrying on its legacy. 

Joining us at Audible Studios is actor and writer Obioma Ugoala. Ugoala trained at and graduated from the Drama Centre, London, and spent the beginning of his career touring and performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has played the role of Kristoff in London's West End Frozen show, Smokey Robinson in Motown: The Musical, and George Washington in Hamilton. Ugoala also provides workshops and outreach programmes to BAME students in Greater London, and has most recently written a book, The Problem With My Normal Penis.

With her debut novel, The Arrangement, Canadian-born Sonya Lalli visits the Audible Studios to talk of all things love, culture and arranged marriages. Now based in London, Sonya is a part-time journalist for legal magazine Global Competition Review and author of The Arrangement, an East-meets-West tale of cultural expectations and modern society that gives a refreshing insight into an all too familiar tale.

Joining us in the Audible studios to talk about her new book, Turned On: The Sex Robot Story, is British computer scientist and senior lecturer in the department of computing at Goldsmiths University Kate Devlin. Kate Devlin is best known for her work on human sexuality and robotics and is also the founder of the UK’s first ever sex tech hackathon and cochair of the annual Love and Sex with Robots convention. Her book Turned On: The Sex Robot Story was published in 2018.

Joining us at Audible Studios is comedian and teacher, Shabaz Ali. Better known as @ShabazSays, or ‘#King of the Povvos’, Shabaz Ali has amassed over 1 million followers on Instagram and 1.8 million on TikTok with his caustic take downs of the mega-rich. In the name of the cost of living crisis, Ali mocks those who spend their fortunes on designer bags, aesthetically pleasing fridge re-stocks and needlessly priced useless items. When he’s not making viral reaction videos, he can be found teaching chemistry at a school in Blackburn.

Joining us at Audible Studios are Mayors of Greater Manchester and the Liverpool City Region respectively, Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram. Andy Burnham has served as Mayor of Greater Manchester since 2017, and as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Culture Secretary and Health Secretary among other roles during his extended political career. Steve Rotheram has served as Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region since 2017 and like Burnham, has long supported the Labour party.

We will be chatting with Bryony Gordon about Mad Woman, her latest book which looks back over her life since Mad Girl was published. We will be asking how her views on mental health have changed, what you need to know about Dryrobes, and what impact the pandemic had on her life. Plus, the affect that perimenopause and hormones can have on mental health.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to discuss her eighth novel, The Crow Garden, is talented and acclaimed horror writer Alison Littlewood. Born and raised in Yorkshire, Alison is the author of Richard and Judy best seller A Cold Season; its sequel, A Cold Silence; and the dark Victorian mystery The Hidden People.

Beginning her professional career as a fashion journalist and stylist, Scanlon has gone on to become a household name at the BBC, fronting documentaries on BBC Three, and presenting Your Home Made Perfect. Scanlon has not stopped there: she has also presented a BBC Radio 2 show and often presents The One Show too. Scanlon has hosted her own podcast since 2019 titled Thanks A Million which has proved to be hugely popular, currently on its fifth series, and her book Joyrider is now on the (virtual and physical) shelves.

James Bennet joins us in the studio to talk about his Ben Garston series and the latest release, Raising Fire. He introduces us to the series and his characters, tells us how fantasy and the real world interact and explains why this book is a little darker.

We'll be asking Kate Muir about Everything You Need to Know About the Pill (But Were too Afraid to Ask), debunking myths, discovering why women are often given the wrong advice, and the prospects of a male pill. Muir worked for seven years as chief film critic for The Times before turning more towards investigative journalism. She has written three novels but her more recent works have looked at the hormonal issues that women face, often needlessly. She has produced documentaries on the menopause, as well as becoming an expert public speaker.

Joining us from home is post-doctoral research scientist Dr Tim Gregory, whose book Meteorite brings us not just the story of our planet, but the origins of the solar system in a comprehensible form. Dr Tim Gregory grew up in Yorkshire and has always had a fascination with science, mainly space and rocks. 

David Mark - or in this case DM Mark - joins us in the Audible Studios to chat about his latest release, The Zealot's Bones. David tells us what it's like to move from contemporary to historical crime fiction and introduces us to his new characters.

Born in Bolton, Clive Myrie had his eyes set on journalism from a young age, reading the newspapers of his paper round cover to cover. O'Leary began his career in broadcasting over two decades ago, starting out as a disc jockey and runner, before appearing on screen in Channel 4's T4 and Big Brother's Little Brother. He has since hosted shows for BBC and ITV, such as and The X Factor, The One Show and This Morning, as well as presenting charitable events such as Comic Relief and Children in Need. O'Leary is also a bestselling author of children's fiction, with his critically acclaimed series, Toto the Ninja Cat, based on his own blind cat.

Award-winning journalist and author Emily Koch talks to us about her debut audiobook, If I Die Before I Wake. A compelling and suspenseful psychological thriller, the audiobook has captivated listeners due its original premise and intriguing characters. In this exclusive interview, we ask Emily about her writing process, the source of her inspiration for the story and her plans for future titles.

Joining us at Audible Studios is award-winning DJ and British Broadcaster, Adele Roberts. Best known for her work on BBC Radio 1, Roberts has regularly hosted breakfast shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2, and is a common feature on the live lounge. In 2021, Roberts received a stage 2 bowel cancer diagnosis, and underwent surgery to remove the cancer and create an ileostomy. Roberts has been deliberate in staying positive and open during her treatment, in the hopes of inspiring others. We'll be talking to Adele Roberts about Personal Best, her guide to getting back on track.
