Seen through the eyes of a native son Maurice M. Martinez, PhD, in this firsthand account of survival on a deep-South landscape speaks to the elan vital of a multiethnic, multicultural American. Once upon a time, in the Land of Epidermis, in a place called the 7th Ward in New Orleans, there lived a group of marginalized Americans known as gens de couleur libres (free persons of color).

Maurice Coons (also known as Armitage Trail), is best known for this 1929 pulp fiction novel which is based on the life of Al Capone. The book is the basis of two films films of the same name. One starring Paul Muni in 1932 and later on starring Al Pacino in 1983. The story starts out with the beginnings of young Tony Guarino as a small time but savvy gangster who goes off to fight in the Great War and comes back as Tony Camonte, the city's next big cheese.

Dostrzegamy różne fakty, śledzimy obyczaje, powiadamy: robią to a to, pracują w ten a ten sposób, królowa tak przychodzi na świat, robotnice są dziewicami, rój następuje w tym a tym czasie. Wydaje nam się, że poznaliśmy wszystko, i nie pytamy o więcej. Widzimy, jak śpieszą z kwiatu na kwiat, obserwujemy rozgwar i ruch ula, a egzystencję tę uważamy za bardzo prostą, wyznaczając jej granice od instynktownego szukania karmy do również instynktownego rozmnażania się.

Arsenio Lupin innamorato! Certamente, come in tutte le sue imprese, l'amore non è un amore assolutamente fuori dall'ordinario, e che lo porterà a risolvere un vecchio mistero, un'eredità scomparsa, e ad una delle sue schermaglie con la polizia francese.

Un romanzo complesso in cui Arsenio Lupin interviene solo per sciogliere un enigma che sembrerebbe incomprensibile. Oltre alle vicende misteriose che si intrecciano attorno alle vite di un capitano e di un'infermiera, si tratta di milioni e milioni in oro che vengono trafugati alla Francia. Il ladro gentiluomo, che non ha mai nascosto il suo patriottismo, interverrà in aiuto del suo paese. Il romanzo fu pubblicato in Italia diviso in due volumi: "Il triangolo d'oro" e "La vittoria di Arsenio Lupin".

Maurice Leblanc si cimenta in un romanzo di fantascienza, con eccellenti risultati. Una misteriosa proiezione su un muro mostra eventi della storia passata riprodotti con precisione straordinaria. La scoperta della formula chimica che funge da "ricevitore" è al centro di omicidi e rapimenti. Cornice musicale: Chopin, concerto n. 11.

Maurice Leblanc, creatore del fortunato personaggio di Arsenio Lupin, ha scritto nel 1916-17 questo romanzo a puntate, che fu pubblicato in Italia in due volumi: "Il cerchio rosso" e "Le avventure di Fiorenza". Il romanzo non vede la partecipazione di Lupin. Quello che non manca sono le avventure e la fantasia dello scrittore, che elegge come eroina una donna coraggiosa e generosa che assume il ruolo di "giustiziera" intervenendo, con mezzi non ortodossi, in situazioni in cui la legge ha le mani legate.

Nove episodi in cui Lupin racconta casi misteriosi da lui risolti, e regalati alla sua vecchia conoscenza Ganimard, e casi in cui si rivela ancora una volta il suo spirito di canaglia ribelle ma di cuore.
