When Covid-19 shut down America, veteran Kansas State sportswriter Tim Fitzgerald, who is battling Stage 4 prostate cancer, laid low. Fitz took it as an opportunity to catch up with the friends he made during his many decades in sports, and now he's reaching out to create new bonds. After several women fall victim to a serial killer, journalist Kate Rivendale becomes embroiled in the manhunt. A non-human, alien mummy was recently found in Peru that could be the greatest discovery of all time. The remarkable ancient mummified body, dubbed Maria, has three fingers on each hand. It was discovered in Nazca, Peru. While mummies can excite historians, this particular find may alter the story of human origins forever. Dating back 1600 years or more, some experts say it is evidence of an ancient reptilian race.

L'idea di un racconto con protagonista un uomo dalla vita al contrario non era un'idea originale di Fitzgerald. Come ammise lo stesso scrittore statunitense nella nota introduttiva a "Il curioso caso di Benjamin Button": "Questo racconto fu ispirato da un'osservazione di Mark Twain: cioè, che era un peccato che la parte migliore della nostra vita venisse all'inizio e la peggiore alla fine."

Esta novela corta, enfrenta dos mundos irreconciliables: el lujo, el optimismo y el dinero contrapuestos a la desdicha, la pobreza y la apatía vital. Gordon Sterrett, como Jim Powell en "El gominola", buscará su absolución en un ensueño de juventud y encanto que le rechaza: el infierno no cabe en el paraíso.
