H. G. Wells fue un gran escritor prolífico de ficción y no ficción. Su carrera literaria se extendió por más de sesenta años y sus primeras novelas de ciencia ficción le concedieron el título (junto con Julio Verne y Hugo Gernsback) de «Padre de la ciencia ficción».

Es un punto controvertido si el robo en domicilios ha de considerarse un deporte, un oficio o un arte. Para oficio la técnica es muy poco rigurosa, y sus pretensiones de que se lo considere un arte están viciadas por el elemento mercenario que determina sus triunfos. En general lo más apropiado parece ser clasificarlo como deporte, un deporte para el que en la actualidad todavía no se han formulado las reglas y cuyos premios se distribuyen de una manera extremadamente informal.

The Island of Doctor Moreau is an 1896 science-fiction novel by the English author H. G. Wells (1866-1946). The story is narrated by Edward Prendick, a shipwrecked man rescued by a passing boat and left on the island home of Doctor Moreau. An eminent physiologist from London whose experiments in vivisection had been exposed, the doctor fled England and continued his experiments on a remote island where he creates mutant beings from animals.

The War of the Worlds is HG Wells’ dramatic science fiction tale of aliens invading England. The story is narrated in the first person by two brothers as the aliens criss-cross the country in their three-legged machines, destroying everything in their path with heat rays and poison gases. Panic rules as people flee from London, but when all seems lost, an unusual ally comes to mankind’s aid. This brilliant combination of science fiction and Gothic horror has inspired countless films, radio dramas, and television series.

"Ann Veronica" is a New Woman novel by H. G. Wells published in 1909. "Ann Veronica" describes the rebellion of Ann Veronica Stanley, "a young lady of nearly two-and-twenty", against her middle-class father's stern patriarchal rule. The novel dramatizes the contemporary problem of the New Woman. It is set in Victorian era London and environs, except for an Alpine excursion. Ann Veronica offers vignettes of the women's suffrage movement in Great Britain and features a chapter inspired by the 1908 attempt of suffragettes to storm Parliament.

Der Schauspieler Friedrich Schoenfelder las darin Grusel- und Kriminalgeschichten für Erwachsene zur guten Nacht vor. Bezeichnenderweise schlug er selbst 1972 der Unterhaltungsabteilung des SFB vor, eine Sendereihe zu starten, in der von ihm redaktionell ausgewählte Gruselgeschichten zu Gehör kommen sollten.

Un montañero llamado Núñez, en su intento por coronar el Parascotopetl, el Matterhorn de los Andes, resbala y cae por una ladera nevada. Al incorporarse comprueba aturdido que se encuentra en un valle aislado del resto del mundo por profundos precipicios, el País de los Ciegos. Los ancestros de sus habitantes huyeron de la represión española y una extraña enfermedad se propagó entre ellos, provocando que todos sus descendientes nacieran ciegos.

Trata de un profesor llamado Gibberne que en el ano 1899 invento una droga llamada el Nuevo Acelerador, como lo dice su nombre, acelera el cuerpo de quien lo toma, segun Gibberne no tiene rival en cuestion de medicamentos soporiferos, sedantes, etc. El Profesor llamo a su mejor amigo para comentarle sobre lo que podria hacer con la droga y tambien para que serviria.

Certain Personal Matters is a selection by the author from among his vast output of humorous and insightful short essays and ephemeral pieces written during the 1890s. Initially when one thinks of the possibility of becoming invisible the potential results are both intriguing and faintly comical. For H.G Wells however the subject is developed into a narrative that takes the concept of invisibility to its disturbing conclusion. For the author it is always the impact of science upon the Human heart and mind which is of interest and here results in a classic of science fiction.

En Doce historias y un sueño, el oyente se encontrará con un Wells sorprendente que extiende su búsqueda hacia la recreación fantástica y humorística de personajes variopintos a los que une un lazo común.

Un alpinista llamado Núñez, en su intento por coronar el Parascotopetl, el Matterhorn de los Andes, resbala y cae al otro lado de la montaña. Al final de su descenso, encuentra un valle, aislado del resto del mundo por empinados precipicios. Nuñez descubre así el mítico "País de los Ciegos". El valle había sido refugio de colonos que huían de la tiranía de gobernantes. La comunidad aislada prosperó con los años, a pesar de una enfermedad que les golpeó e hizo que los bebés nacieran ciegos.

Uno scienziato inglese riesce a mettere a punto un procedimento che rende invisibile qualsiasi oggetto e decide di sperimentare su di sé la sua fantastica scoperta. L'esperimento riesce perfettamente, ma lo scienziato scopre ben presto che essere invisibili comporta tutta una serie di spiacevoli effetti collaterali che non aveva previsto. Sempre in bilico tra il tragico e il grottesco, tra un delirio di onnipotenza ed una impotente assurdità, il personaggio uscito dalla penna di Wells diventa una sorta di "anti-super-eroe".
