Un joven ingeniero hidráulico de Londres, el Sr. Victor Hatherley, les relata los sucesos extraños de la noche anterior, primero al doctor Watson y luego a Sherlock Holmes en persona. Während sich sein Umfeld Sorgen macht, nimmt der Professor die Angelegenheit nicht sonderlich ernst.

The story Takes Holmes and Watson to the tropical island of Ceylon on behalf of the Foreign Office to investigate the murder of one of the Atkinson brothers.
