Although he's best known for his weird fiction writings, for much of his literary life, H.P. Lovecraft considered himself primarily a poet. Fungi from Yuggoth is his most well-known work of poetry; in it, he combines his taste for cosmic horror with his appreciation of the antiquarian and seasons it with his inimitable dry, dark wit.

The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is a novella by American writer H. P. Lovecraft. Begun probably in the autumn of 1926, the draft was completed on January 22, 1927 and it remained unrevised and unpublished in his lifetime. It is both the longest of the stories that make up his Dream Cycle and the longest Lovecraft work to feature protagonist Randolph Carter. Along with his 1927 novel The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, it can be considered one of the significant achievements of that period of Lovecraft's writing.

The "blasted heath" they called it. Five acres of grey desolation, like a sore eaten into the land. West of Arkham, the hills rise wild. There are dark little glens where the trees hang precariously and where thin brooklets trickle, never having been touched by sunlight. There was once a road over the hills and through the valley, but people ceased to use it. The old folk have died or gone away, and the farms and villages are slowly decaying back into dark woods and narrow clearings. A family died up there.

The Victorians were obsessed with Egyptology and mummies. It was during the second half of the 19th century that many of the most significant archeological finds were made in Egypt, and stories of the revenge of the mummies on anyone raiding their tombs, stealing their treasures or unwrapping their corpses abounded. The story follows Walter Gilman, who takes a room in the Witch House, an accursed house in Akham, Lovecraft's fictional New England town. The house once harbored Keziah Mason, a witch who disappeared mysteriously from a Salem jail in 1692. Gilman discovers that over the centuries most of its occupants have died prematurely. In his dreams while at the house, Gilman travels to the city of Elder Things and communes with the evil witch and her henchmen.

Robert Blake—a young man with an interest in the occult—becomes fascinated by a large disused church set on a hill which he can see from his lodgings. His researches reveal that the church has a sinister history and is dreaded by the local inhabitants as being haunted by a primeval evil.

The story is told by Albert N. Wilmarth, an instructor of literature at Miskatonic University in Arkham. When local newspapers report strange things seen floating in rivers during a historic Vermont flood, Wilmarth becomes embroiled in a controversy about the reality and significance of the sightings, though he sides with the skeptics. Wilmarth uncovers old legends about monsters living in the uninhabited hills who abduct people who venture or settle too close to their territory.

"The Shadow over Innsmouth." Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937) is a novelist famous for his horror stories, fantasy and science fiction. Although he was not famous during his lifetime, his work is now considered a classic of literature. Lovecraft's work has influenced many authors, including Stephen King, who considers him "the greatest craftsman of the classic horror story of the 20th century."

In later years, this was H.P. Lovecraft's favorite among his own stories, and many of the most serious H.P. Lovecraft fans readily agree that it's his best work. It is one of his most truly cosmic horror stories, trading not at all on supernatural elements, relying for all its power on the idea of real forces and entities that humans are simply not equipped to fully perceive or understand.

FNH Audio presents an unabridged reading of H.P. Lovecraft's classic tale of horror, Dreams in the Witch House. Walter Gilman rents a room in a house that the locals shun. They call it the Witch House because of the strange lights seen late at night. Walter thinks there's something more to it than just lights. He has mathematical occult research to carry out, and the angles of the walls in the Witch House suit his dubious needs.

Nyarlathotep is the prose poem that marks the first appearance of "The Crawling Chaos", an Outer God in the Cthulu Mythos and one of Lovecraft’s most famous creations. Based on a vivid nightmare that Lovecraft experienced, the poem has been described as “a bleak view of human civilization in decline, and explores the mixed sensations of desperation and defiance in a dying society.”

In a world beyond the walls of sleep, Randolph Carter goes in search of an opulent and mysterious sunset city. First, he must go to Kadath, home of the Gods, where he hopes to be guided to the city of his dreams. No one has ever been to Kadath, and no one even knows how to get there - but that won't stop Carter from trying. In this masterful adaptation of Lovecraft's classic novella, I. N. J. Culbard captures Carter's journey through the dangerous and spectacular Dreamlands in beautiful, gripping detail.

When his ship is torpedoed by a German U-Boat during World War I, a man is taken prisoner by the Germans. Later, he escapes from the U-Boat to the sea, where he discovers a vast body of land, previously submersed on the Pacific Ocean floor, recently ripped from it through some geological upheaval, and bearing evidence that a highly intelligent, monstrous, race shares dominion of the Earth with humanity, and for the moment exercising it's rule only on the ocean floor.

It is a recording of a dream, where the protagonist is a Roman military official in the Vascon country near Pompelo. The countryside is, every year, ravaged by terrible hill people who kidnap citizens and perform cruel rituals at a Sabbath. The narrator wishes to lead a military expedition to crush these hill folk, as a feeling of approaching evil has enveloped the countryside, due to a riot between the citizens and the hill people. These hill folk came to trade, yet some of these are killed and later, no disappearances occur before the time of the Sabbath.

Professor Angell was an expert on ancient languages. When a young man brought a grotesque carving to his office that contained a strain of hieroglyphics that were unreadable to all, it started the strangest and most horrific research of his life. The statue would lead the professor and is great-nephew to discover the awful truth of the cult of Cthulhu and what its existence meant for the future of mankind.
