Heresies have attacked the Church before, and she is still standing. Jesus made a promise that hell would not prevail against his Church, and he has kept his promise for over 2000 years. That’s all well and true, but how many dead bodies were left behind by the disobedience of a few possibly (or not) well-intentioned dissidents!

Mary’s appearance to five children in Beauraing, Belgium, in November and December of 1932 has always fascinated us. There are so many aspects of the visit from Our Heavenly Lady that we don’t quite understand. But we know there was a need for Mary to come to our aid in this place at this time. Nothing is by coincidence with her. Every time she comes to us in an apparition, she has to upset the balance of nature and break through the dimension separating heaven and earth just to make contact with us.

When a pilgrim goes to the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi, he is given a pamphlet which reads: “An Encounter with Saint Francis in Assisi”. This is what we will attempt to do in this book: introduce you to and pray you experience such an encounter with the Poverello of Jesus. Your heart will burn to learn more about him. There is so much to know about Saint Francis of Assisi that it’s impossible in this short book to tell it all. In addition, Francis touches everyone in a different way, as does Jesus.

Pontmain is a small village on the borderline between the Normandy and Brittany sections of France. It is very small, situated between Fougeres and Mont St. Michel, which is on the Normandy Coast. The first time we visited Our Lady of Hope, in the summer, offshore breezes from the English Channel provided refreshing cool air to the area, as a relief from the summer heat. But when we returned in the winter, the soft, cool breezes had turned to cold, howling winds, bringing icy weather to the entire area, and through our insulated jackets.
