DUET NARRATION WITH A BONUS CHAPTER!

SLEEPING BEAUTY x HADES & PERSEPHONE

Tarian Hadez—thirty-three, real estate mogul, mob lord, most eligible bachelor in New England, god. The god-part is an exaggeration. After all, if true deities existed, then the world would be a magical place, and it's really not. At least, my world isn't.

Calanthe Bloom. That's me. Twenty-four, college graduate drowning in debt, true crime addict, florist by default, single by design. Although not living my best life, I'm enthusiastically pursuing it. Especially, in my dreams, which, since a recent flower-delivery snafu, all feature none other than lethally private Tarian.

Oh, the things he does to me when I sleep.

Wickedly surreal.

Except . . . are they?

Enter a world of gods and monsters where dreams are made of flesh. My Dark Beast is a paranormal romance standalone brimming with spice and intrigue.

Content warning: strong language, sexually explicit scenes, graphic violence, Alzheimer's, alcohol drinking, abduction of an adult, addiction to "magical" drugs (off page), death of a loved one (off page).

Edited 9th June 2024:
I've just finished a reread & my first listen to the brand new audiobook. I'm over the moon it's been done in a dual pov duet format. They've made this into an amazing experience.👏
Both narrators are so well cast as Calanthe and Tarian. She brings all of the fiestiness and fire of her character to life brilliantly.🔥🌹 He is a perfect Tarian, with all of his growly, possessive, and sexiness pouring into our ears!🎧🥵
Easily a 5 star listen.⭐️

I was swept away in this paranormal romance with Atlantean Gods with 'powers' and humble-ish humans who just thought they were mob bosses.😆

Calanthe Bloom is trying to keep her parents' flower shop open. It isn't her dream, but her Dad died, and her mum has altzheimers, so she's trying to keep a roof over their heads. Tarian Hadez, the head of the Atlantean families, is living in Boston. They meet when she's delivering cacti to his mansion for a dinner party. That is when both of their lives change - forever? Calanthe will gain more than the one friend she's always had, but Tarian may well lose everything!👀

Because of a transfer of a small amount of magic from him to her, she can now dream walk into his dreams and vice versa. This turns out to be imperative when it becomes clear that his very immortality is on the line!😱 She is the only hope for his friends and family to find and save him.🙏🏼✨️

I'm really hoping this will have an amazing audiobook, done with dual female & male pov narration.🙏🏼⭐️❤️

I'm also hoping the author will revisit this world as I loved it, and there are some threads I'd love tied up to.😉🤩

A story like no other!

My Dark Beast is unlike any story I have ever read, a dark Sleeping Beauty retelling with a twist because apparently the author hates Sleeping Beauty and yet wrote a story on it. Except there is a slight twist to this sweet romantic tale of love at first sight or at first kiss. With every book I read by this incredible author I am always left in awe at her creativity, her uniqueness and her incredible story writing skills that always leave me craving more!

Firstly I have to say that the author picked some amazing narrators for the characters. I couldn't even begin to describe the voice i heard in my head but Tarian's voice definitely matches, the gravelly, gruff quality is just so him and Tarian to a T. The female narrators voice also compliments the male narrators really well and just made the whole listening experience that much more enjoyable.

Tarian Hadez is our leading male, he's dark, dangerous, powerful, the god of all gods he's the most powerful of his kind, Atlanteans and he and his people hide in plain sight, some believing in the rumours about their magic, others sceptical. But one thing is sure, they a popular, rich and everyone wants to know more about them ... except sweet, innocent Calanthe Bloom. From the moment he first lays eyes on her, as she throws a rose onto his car he is captivated and enthralled, only one thought in his mind .... MINE! His magic is unstable, it kills people without his permission, including members of his own family, his runs detaching from his skin and burning into his victims, instantly draining their magic and their immortality as the countdown to the draining of their blood and their inevitable death begins. Or does it? Is his magic going haywire? Or is their more to this than meets the eye?

If there is you can bet that Calanthe Bloom is determined to discover the truth ... eventually. Calanthe is an average mortal girl, suffering from the grief of the loss of her beloved and adoring father, looking after and being the sole carer for her ailing mother plagued with Alzheimer's and attempting to keep her parents beloved flower shop from bankruptcy she has no interest in the intimidating and mysterious hadez clan. Especially the head of the clan Tarian Hadez even though she accidentally throws a rose onto the hood of his car as she attempted to cross the street to get a friend to remove the spider on it. Calanthe has a heart full of love, she cares deeply for everyone she meets, if they be deserving but she's so insecure, especially when it comes to men, so how can she believe that the most stunningly attractive man she has ever seen in her life is interested in her. She can't but maybe with time Tarian can worm his way in.

Everyone knows how Sleeping Beauty goes the princess who pricks her finger on a spinning wheel and falls into eternal slumber and the prince who hears of the sleeping princess and falls in love with her. Well in this story, it is Tarian who is our damsel in distress asleep and unable to wake up thanks to his kidnappers the rune he transferred onto Calanthe's skin allows her to join him in his dreams and there their love blooms. But when Tarian eventually awakens will he still feel the same way? Or will they both wake up and it all have been a beautiful dream?

Overall, I loved the twist of having our leading male in trouble and having the leading female be the one with helps from family members to save him. The world-building as always in this authors books is top-notch, coupled with a intensely, enthralling plot and storyline, with lots of loveable characters who compliment each other well, giving the reader a bit of everything they need in a good story. Will our heroine Calanthe be able to save the damsel in distress that is Tarian Hadez? Or will she be too late?
