Alex M. Stein is an award-winning Los Angeles-based writer, director, and lover of the Northern Lights. He grew up in a college town and spent his formative years in used record stores. This, in his mind, explains a lot. In November 2023, Alex spent a month in an artist residency at the Fish Factory Creative Centre in the Eastfjords of Iceland, where he wrote first drafts of most of the pieces in ECHOES OF ICELAND. Alex is a multiple Moth story slam winner who can frequently be found in various venues telling stories before live audiences. He produced and directed the award-winning Iditarod documentary MUSH as well as the award-winning short film "Grace" (based on one of the stories in ECHOES OF ICELAND). Alex loves dogs, mushing, and sled-dog races even though an accident six miles into an easy eight-mile run put an end to his own mushing career. For now.
