Ashley Black has been unapologetically defying the impossible and overcoming limitations since she was a child. Her unique experiences set her apart and put her on the path toward discovering her life’s work – pioneering the new science of “Fasciology™”. AshleyBlackGuru.com/about Ashley was born with an acute, inflammatory, autoimmune disease labeled Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA). She endured cycles of excruciating pain as a child and was told that by the time she was 30, she would be restricted to life in a wheelchair. As an aspiring gymnast, she refused to accept this as her fate. The cycles of her aggressive disease had her on and off crutches, yet she would press through to be able to compete at the next gymnastics meet. She concocted her own training regimes to overcome the pain or would simply “fake” her way through the competition, often silently bedridden and in tears afterwards. Even as a child, she was too driven to back down. She was able to stay active into her twenties despite her JRA, which defied the prognosis handed to her by every doctor she had seen in the past. She was even able to start teaching fitness classes and participating in sports while starting her family. In a nightmare turn of events, just after having her second child and undergoing a routine hip aspiration for pain, she was stricken with a staph infection of the deadliest kind: Osteomyelitis - a bone-eating bacteria that ate three-fourths of her hipbone and pelvis. The infection spread to her spinal canal and left her completely debilitated and fighting for her life. This resulted in her having to undergo multiple surgeries including a hip replacement. When every field of science –- including traditional, alternative, Eastern and Western medicine, physical therapy and fitness failed to help her and the pain was intense beyond words, Ashley had to use her own body as a “petri dish” and concoct her own methods for healing. She spring-boarded off of many pre-established schools of thought until she was finally able to connect the dots and find the common thread that had been so blatantly overlooked throughout her research—FASCIA! Fascia is finally becoming known to the public in its most infant form, yet Black has been studying it and educating her clients on its importance for almost 2 decades. She has pioneered the science of Fasciology™ and has helped tens of thousands of people from all walks of life to restore their health - from those suffering from chronic pain to pro-athletes,  some of the world’s richest and most influential people and everyday housewives. Her discoveries about the human body and practical applications of her techniques defy the philosophy of traditional medicine, physical therapy, and personal training methods. Today, Ashley’s methods help correct many common health and orthopedic issues including chronic and recurring pain, neurological conditions, athletic injuries, as well as “mystery pains” that often elude traditional medicine. While treating herself and her clients for pain relief and fascia restoration, she realized that the dimples (commonly known as cellulite) were disappearing! Although this was not her ultimate goal, she realized she unintentionally discovered the secret to smooth skin! At its root, cellulite is caused by tight, mangled, fascia (the body’s connective tissue) that pulls down on the skin, causing the fat to push through the web-like tissue, creating an uneven surface. Black has coined the phrase “Hybrid Health”, which is focused on educating and empowering the consumer to self-treat instead of concentrating solely on traditional medicine. Rather than being treatment-centric, Hybrid Health is education-centric. It is a synergistic, big-picture approach to the body, and instead of focusing on “symptom x”, the Hybrid Health movement teaches you to say “What is causing ‘x’ and what is the best way to get to the root?”. It’s about understanding the benefits and limitations of all treatment options and taking control of your own health. Ashley’s journey of piecing together knowledge about fascia and furthering research has brought her to where she is today. Through creating original content, including writing a book, she is gathering an impressive audience and becoming a world-renowned educator and influencer in the Hybrid Health movement.
