John “Divine G” Whitfield is the real person Colman Domingo portrays in the movie Sing Sing. He was an Executive Producer, co-writer, and made a cameo appearance in this Hollywood feature film as the Book Fan asking himself (Divine G played by Colman Domingo) for an autograph of his novel Money Grip. Divine G is also the founder/owner of Divine G Entertainment and a founding member of Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA). His published works include eight (8) novels, an assortment of short stories, several plays, three (3) audiobooks, and he produced, directed and starred in his debut short film production entitled Enigma of Love. He is also a prolific screenplay writer with thirteen (13) completed screenplays, won four PEN American Center Awards and the 2008 Tacenda Literary Award for best play. Divine G was also quoted by the United Nations in its UN Report of the Special Rapporteur on the right of education of persons in detention (A/HRC/11/8, pg. 6, ¶ 11 - 2 April 2009). In addition, Divine G has acted in countless plays, appeared in a Hollywood feature film as an extra, hosted his own internet radio show (The Divine G Show), and worked with Lil Wayne as a supervisory carpenter on his 2013 (AMW) America’s Most Wanted Tour.
