Dwain Schenck started out as a local beat reporter for a regional TV station in Connecticut when a 6.8 earthquake ravaged Spitak, Armenia, decimating the region and prompting Mikhail Gorbachev’s formal request for U.S. humanitarian aid. AmeriCares responded, and with them Dwain became the first Western TV reporter to be on the ground for this monumental relief effort. He went on to hold executive communications positions at a number of notable companies before being laid off with countless other Americans during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Today he is a sought after communications specialist, author and journalist who has a successful track record developing communications strategies that drive growth, build brand awareness, and solve business problems for companies in varying life cycle stages. He started his career as a freelance television business reporter in Los Angeles and became an award-winning television journalist where he was recognized by the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists for Best Spot News Reporting and Best Investigative Series work. Dwain serves as a trusted senior communications counselor who works with high-profile individuals, Fortune 500 corporations, start-up organizations, media companies, non-profits and politicians. He has provided outreach and gained valuable visibility and endorsements for world-recognized influencers including President George H.W. and Barbara Bush, James Earl Jones, Michael Jackson and the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson. Dwain founded and ran his own boutique communications agency for 11 years called, ICA Strategic Communications. In the early 1990’s, he joined the nation’s largest private international humanitarian relief agency, AmeriCares, as its Director of Public Relations where he spent most of his time with journalists and producers writing and pitching thousands of stories to media outlets around the world to help raise money for the organization. While at AmeriCares it is estimated that he generated more than one billion media impressions on major networks, radio stations, and in newspapers and magazines, including "CNN", "The Today Show", "Good Morning America", "CBS This Morning", "The New York Times", and "The Wall Street Journal" to name a few. Dwain is the author of the new non-fiction business book titled, "RESET: How to Beat the Job Loss Blues and Get Ready for your Next Act", published by Da Capo Press with a foreword by Mika Brzezinski—journalist, best-selling author, and co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Dwain graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a degree in broadcast journalism. He lives in Westport, Conn.
