Fran Gabaldoni was born in Gloucestershire in 1968 to an aristocratic, Italian father and English mother. He was brought up in a small Cotswold village in Oxfordshire, where his mother taught the infant class for twenty years. His education was unspectacular: local comprehensive, technical college, Birmingham polytechnic. He went to Oxford, but only on the bus, to go to the cinema and play Space Invaders. He moved to north London in 1990 and had a career in human resources (or human remains as he called it without affection). He has a passion for cricket (something his Italian father could not understand - the rules, not his son's passion), and he became a schools' cricket coach in 2013. His proudest achievement is winning a writing competition, the prize of which was to take thirty primary school children to Lord's cricket ground for the day. Childish Ways is Fran Gabaldoni's debut novel and has been reviewed as ...'Brilliant' ...'Emotive, thought provoking, has heart breaking moments vs hilarious anecdotes of childhood' ...'A must' ...'you're in for a treat.'
