Gary Woodill is a senior analyst with Float, in Morton, IL and CEO of i5 Research. He has been involved with computers in education since 1974, when he was introduced to the PLATO system for computer-assisted instruction in his master’s studies. In the early 1990s, he co-founded an educational multimedia company that developed educational CD-ROMs for children and later designed an adaptable LMS. Gary has developed more than 60 online courses for various corporate clients as well as produced numerous conference presentations, articles, research reports, and whitepapers on emerging learning technologies. He has a doctorate in applied psychology from the University of Toronto. In 2009, Gary co-authored Training and Collaboration with Virtual Worlds, and in 2010 authored The Mobile Learning Edge, both published by McGraw-Hill. He and Chad Udell co-edited and contributed to Mastering Mobile Learning: Tips and Techniques for Success for Wiley in 2014. His latest book, also coauthored with Chad Udell, is Shock of the New: the challenge and promise of emerging technologies, published in 2019 by ATD Press. Gary lives in Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
