AUTHOR'S BIO Haris Dimitriadis, born in Greece, obtained degrees in Mathematics from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki and Economics from the London School of Economics. He spent his career in the business and banking industries and has now retired. Despite climbing the corporate ladder, he found little peace of mind and turned to the philosophy of Epicurus. For the past twenty years, he has been studying, reconstructing, and practicing the ancient philosophy of Epicurus. Haris was impressed by how well the philosophy worked and wanted to share it. He has established a stronger connection with Epicurus and his teachings over time. He has studied Epicurus and his philosophy not only intellectually but also emotionally. Epicurus's emphasis on self-determination inspired him to take responsibility for every aspect of his life. He has chosen to focus his energy on the things and people he loves of his own free will. Recognizing that change is beyond our control; he has consciously released thoughts of worry and speculation, freeing up valuable energy to enjoy life. With considerable effort, he has become less analytical and more in tune with his senses and emotions. Haris lives a fulfilling life in Athens, surrounded by loved ones and friends. He uses his emotions and practical reasoning to make decisions and concentrates on the positive aspects of life. He values quality time with his wife, children, grandchild, and friends, cherishing each moment. He engages in sports, travels, enjoys music, and dances, allowing himself to enter a flow state. Haris has consciously changed his perceptions and thoughts to improve his overall quality of life. He seeks peace of mind and has freed himself from anxieties and fears provoked by materialism and religious beliefs.
