Jo'mel Williams Powell, a Detroit native, found his passion for storytelling early, channeling it into short stories, poetry, and rap. By his teens, music became his focus, reflecting both his environment and search for purpose. At 19, he answered a divine call, leaving behind a hustler's path to become a minister and Christian rapper. He toured the Midwest with a gospel rap group before continuing solo as The I.O.G. and later with The Sonz Of Thunda, releasing two impactful projects. The COVID-19 pandemic deeply affected Jo’mel’s family, leaving his wife with a long-term disability. From this hardship, he found inspiration to write his debut book, A Marriage Broken by COVID Produced Diamonds for You, a powerful testament to faith and resilience. Jo’mel's mission is to inspire and uplift through his music and writing, proving that even in life’s trials, God can produce diamonds.
