Laura Elvebak is the author of the Niki Alexander mysteries, which include Less Dead, Lost Witness, and A Matter of Revenge, featuring an ex-cop turned counselor with Open Palms, a Houston teen shelter. Her short stories are included in Death In Texas, A Box of Texas Chocolates, Twisted Tales of Texas Landmarks, Deadly Diversions, Menu for Mayhem, and Every Beast Has A Secret. Her standalone thriller, The Flawed Dance, is set in the sixties in Philadelphia and is based partly on her life. The Past Never Dies centers around a murder in the oil and gas industry. Born in North Dakota, but raised in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Laura has lived in various cities in Baja California, New York, Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania before settling in Houston close to her three grown children. Along the way, she studied writing at UCLA, USC, Chaffey Community College, Rice University, and Beyond Baroque. Laura is a full time writer following a varied career with oil and gas companies, law firms, and even performed as a go-go dancer in the sixties. Laura optioned three screenplays to a production company and a fourth script placed second in the Empire Screenwriting Contest. Laura also wrote, directed and acted in a play staged in Houston, and co-wrote a script for the 48-Hour Film Project. She is a member of The Final Twist Writers, Sisters-In-Crime, Mystery Writers of America and International Thriller Writers.
