Dr. Matthew Rowley (FRHistS) is Visiting Assistant Professor at Fairfield University. He is historian of early modern religion and violence. Trump and the Protestant Reaction to Make America Great Again (Routledge 2021) examined how Americans remember and forget historical racism, sexism and exploitation. Miracles, Political Authority and Violence (Routledge 2022) explored how beliefs about the supernatural influenced politics and war in the medieval and early modern periods. He is currently editing a two-volume Global Sourcebook in Protestant Political Thought, 1517–1914. His published writings have appeared in outlets like the Journal of Religion and Violence, The Review of Faith and International Affairs, The Conversation and The Washington Post.
