Born in colorful, multi-ethnic, crowded Flushing, Queens, New York, Nina is a first generation American. Navigating the world through the perspective of Italian, Spanish and American ancestry--and having an older sister with cerebral palsy, Nina developed compassion and understanding for the vulnerabilities in all people. As a person who loves new experiences, she earned her pilot's license when she was a teenager, hitchhiked alone through Alaska for three months, and during that time became a registered nurse. After decades of high-tech and nursing leadership, she took the position as a hospice nurse simply because the hours were good for her growing family. Little did she know that she was in for a big surprise as she learned the complex and heart-opening lessons from the dying. From Sun to Sun was created for her children to receive after she died, but a friend kidnapped it and it began it's literary journey. Written without religiosity or dogma, From Sun to Sun profiles the stories of twenty-one of her patients end of life experiences, with the humor, frailty, frustrations and life lessons in the forefront. I wish I could inspire you to read about something so inevitable as death. This book WILL really help you!
