PAVEL CERNY’s career started as that of a film director in his native Czechoslovakia, in the magical city of Prague. After forced expulsion from the communist country, he moved to  Los Angeles, where he became a screenwriter and playwright.  He became an internationally known stage director (USA, Germany, Austria) but it hasn’t been till the Covid 19 pandemic of 2020, that he became energized again. During the first 10 months of the year he wrote 4 screenplays and three books .  The screenplays have meantime gathered over 20 awards at major screenwriting competitions, including selections for the European Cinematography Awards and for the Cannes Film Awards. The first two of Pavel Cerny’s books,  HAMLET IN BALTIMORE,  a horror fantasy about the childhood of Edgar Poe, and the charming book for children ALEX AND THE AMAZING CATVENTURES, are already gathering  praise from readers and book critics alike.  Now comes his next Edgar Allan yarn, THE BLUE BOTTLE, a horror fantasy fiction inspired by Poe’s scandalous  marriage to his 13 year old cousin Virginia. Also in pre-publication stages is ALEX AND THE NEW AMAZING CATVENTURES, part two of the original children’s book. Pavel is already working on a sequel to the E.A. Poe books titled THE LADY IN GRAY,  and also a continuation of his hit CATVENTURES trilogy.
