Thanks for taking a look at my author’s page and any interest in my work. My name is Paul, and I’m a happy, hairy, geeky, proud Welshman. I have always loved stories and story telling – whether happy or sad, mysterious or surprising, nothing moves us, touches us, inspires us or sparks our imagination like a good story. Tell me your name and I’ll forget it, tell me a story about you and I’ll remember it forever. My favourite thing to do is go to the cinema and I would happily eat chips every day if I could. Even though I enjoy my job, writing gives me a much needed outlet for my creative side and the thought of someone else reading and enjoying something I’ve written, is wonderful. My 40+ years bumping around this planet haven’t all been spent in Wales, I’ve been around, especially in my days as a Christian missionary, when I was young and handsome. Growing up I read the usual comics, my favourite being 2000AD and liked adventure books like Moby Dick and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. In my teens I moved onto Sci-fi, loving the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books and fantasy with the Lord of the Rings. Now I read anything from the classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and 1984, anything by Terry Pratchett or Larry Niven, a good autobiography or the odd graphic novel. My all time favourite being How Green Was My Valley by Richard Llewellyn My debut novel, 'The dragon under the hill' represents a very personal story and is as much a love letter to Wales and it's culture as it a stand alone story. A lot of my family, their history and stories appear in this novel and it's poetic style represents how I like to write. I do believe children’s literature is far from the lesser cousin of novels – The wind in the willows, Winnie the pooh, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Peter Pan are as wonderful, well crafted and uplifting as anything ever written. My book ‘Mupply & the Dog Library’ and it's sequel 'Mupply & Red Tail Farm', came about after a conversation with my best mate Steve Jones (who lives in Oz and is a notable author himself, with the Maximum Security series of books, starting with A Planned Death in Custody, which I can recommend) after the loss of his pet. ‘Wouldn’t it be great if there was somewhere you could go, hire a dog, go for a walk, throw a stick but be able to take it back afterwards. So he wouldn’t get hair on your carpet or eat your shoes?’ From there a story was born. The audio book, read by myself, is also available via Audible
