I am retired after a career in Education and Computing during which I worked for Universities in the commonwealth and the UK and for BT and Rutherford Appleton. I have a wide range of research interests (always a bad sign!) and a long obsession with English poetry. I deeply dislike the "two cultures" division of our education systems and would be proud if my work bridged both. The near-ring book is at the level of undergraduate mathematics. The turtle book is occasionally requested by people working is marine biology but not a gripping read for others. The poetry book may not be what you expect because half of it is not poetry and most people think it is funny and informative. I am working on an even more boring Physics book. The person sitting on the other one's shoulder in the picture is my friend, Henry. I don't usually sit on people's shoulders myself but if I did I would endeavour to be more continent than Henry ever was. I suspect he had better priorities.
