I am a New York City journalist publishing my first novel. The story, about Brooklyn in the tense 1970s grew out of my own experiences and memories of the time period. I still live in Brooklyn, not very far from where I grew up, which made research pretty accessible. In my day job, I cover television for the New York Post, writing reviews, columns and interviews. This job has given me a front-row seat to the constantly evolving TV industry which is replacing film as the primary form of entertainment in America, especially with the dominance of Netflix. While working at the Post, I went to a low residency program in North Carolina—the Warren Wilson School for Writers—to get my MFA. It was in the program, which was very demanding, that I figured out how to put this book together in a form that was publishable.
