Sean Connolly is a Tour de France or perhaps Force. His autobiographical novel 'British Army on the Rampage' recently soared to the top 12 out of tens of thousands on the Authonomy listings. He firmly believes the pen is mightier than the sword, which isn't bad coming from a man who has fired 5lb shells over inhabited villages. He writes with humour about military life but he writes it real. And it is about more than just laughs, it is about what happens when you give a dysfunctional teenager a big piece of military hardware to play with and it's about growing up and finding a family and a purpose, at least that's what someone said in a review. What started as a simple suggestion to write an account of his early military days has snow-balled into a literary obsession and he has just completed his first fictional novel. It is early days in his career but already newspapers, radio and tv are following his progress. The film rights to his first novel were bought for a penny, which the Producer had to borrow from Sean anyway. He is thinking of getting an agent... He has now been approached by a very well known publisher who doesn't want to borrow a penny! He loves motorbikes but rides far more slowly since the recent birth of his son. He has also started writing poetry - in short he is going soft... fortunately his books aren't. And now Sean's first work of fiction is available - 'Gunners 'n' Grenades' about a group of young misfits who are comandeered into one of Britain's most elite fighting forces. Attempting to attract a wider female readership it was originally going to be about a ballerina joining the Women's Royal Army Corps entitled 'Dancers & Dynamite' but this was thought to be a litle too Mills (Bomb) & Boon so it was changed into a book about agressive young men instead. Sean is currently working on his next book which harks back to his autobiographic work as seen in B.A.O.R. with more hilarious tales but from his very early army life. He says that he's writing them down now before he loses his memory as he's getting on a bit.
