Sherief Abouelmagd joined Deutsche Hospitality (German Hotel Chain) in February 2021 to open and manage the flagship hotel and residence in Doha, Qatar. He oversees all aspects of operations and leads the management team, strengthening the hotel and residence main objectives to deliver excellent guest experiences. The iconic hotel building opened its doors during November 2021. The veteran hotelier has over 35 years of hospitality experience across the USA, North Africa, Middle East and GCC countries, and brings a wealth of hospitality and operational experience to company. He started his career with Marriott Hotels International in USA, where he held several managerial positions in various states. Abouelmagd opened and managed his first two hotels as General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott from 1997 – 1999, in both North and South Carolina. In the Middle East, Abouelmagd continued his successful career as Deputy General Manager for the Cairo Marriott Hotel and Casino, one of the largest properties with 1,250 rooms and multiple restaurants and ballrooms. Throughout his career, Abouelmagd has held several senior level positions at various reputable international hotel chains such as Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts, Melia Hotels International and Shaza Hotels, opening and managing several properties in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Egypt, Tunisia, Oman and Qatar. Recently Mr. Abouelmagd has also opened the iconic Steigenberger Residence in Qatar, the first residence hotel for Deutsche Hospitality group and holds the position of Cluster General Manager for the Steigenberger Hotel and Residence Doha. The American-Egyptian native holds a Master’s Degree in Hotel Management and Food Service from Florida International University, U.S.A.
