The story continues…

Much of the storyline is recycled from earlier books, but it’s still a thrilling read/listen & I can’t wait for the next book. The only downside for me was some of the childish voices that the narrator uses - the worst of which is Nakkor’s, which is just painful to listen to. A shame, since most of the others are done really well.

Another Great story

Feist is a legend, I am overjoyed that his recent series has returned to the RiftWar. I both read and listened to this book. I enjoyed the story very much, however this narrator bugged me on the last series, but it’s even worse on this book. Perhaps some of it is the editing or production. My niggles: there are big pauses at the end of sentences AND before reading dialogue tags (‘he said’ etc). I listen in x1.25 speed too; his reading is both too jolly and matter of fact; his range of voices isn’t great.
That saying, I’m an and always will be a massive fan of Feist.

Solid Audiobook

Excellent narration

Slightly weird story. Got a bit timey-wimey and existential which definitely detracted from the awesomeness of Pug reborn.

But also, Pug…version 2. Love Pug. Love Nakor.
Might have to go back and read the original series again.

Will obviously continue to buy everything Raymond E Feist writes

Excellent story. Narrator isn't as good as the old ones, odd pronunciations and inconsistent, not always great voices

Amazing book completely ruined by reader.

I have all of Feist's works and love the books narrated by Peter Jackson. I'm afraid to say that the narrator for this book seems to be a massive cost saving as it's shocking.

Many characters voices sound the same, awkward pauses, and clearly doesn't know the work as many mis pronounced words (I actually speak to Feist on Facebook quite a lot and was shocked to discover he has no say in the Audible voice acting!)

Cry-dee is where Pug is from, not Cridd-e as this narrator says - one of many mistakes!

I've been a lifelong fan of feist and especially Pug and all things associated with him and I'm overjoyed to say this listen has not disappointed but has got me excited and now patiently awaiting the next installment. M

Fantastic continuation of an epic saga

Absolutely brilliant read! it's the same voice actor who did the firemane saga and he tells the story well, although I do miss Peter Joyce after listening to him tell pretty much the entire Riftwar series.

After finishing this book it has left me wanting more! I am very much looking forward to the release of this new series.

I will say that if you have not read the Firemane series, then you should read that first as this book ties both worlds together in a continuation of the overall story.

Poor Narration

I really wanted to love everything about this but as a narrator, this guy is really not up to Feist's writing and has ruined this listen for me.

Peter Joyce absolutely owns these stories - not sure I can handle another Feist book with this narrator.

Great story. Narrator needs to learn how to say the names properly

Great story as expected from Raymond. The narrator overall is pretty good and I do t miss Peter Joyce as much as some of the other books not read by him. The most annoying thjng is that the narrator clearly hasn’t been told how to say a number of the names and pronounces them very differently to previous books. It wouldn’t take more than 5 minutes for someone in production to tell him how to correctly pronounce Crydee, Midkemia, Calis, Tomas and many more. It ended up being very distracting. Nakors voice is very jarring.

Let down by the performance

Honestly, story-wise, any Feist fan will love this. However, those same fans are likely to hate the way the narrator (David Thorpe) butchers the pronunciation of names for key characters and places from Midkemian history. Not only has he not bothered to learn about this rich universe, but he's not even consistent with his pronunciations. There is one final bugbear, Nakor! This is singularly the worst butchering of a beloved character I've ever heard.
