Summary
Eddie Mair is, by his own account, one of Britain's most beloved broadcasters. Born in Dundee, Scotland, he has worked in radio all his adult life. From the foothills of commercial radio in his hometown, through the sunlit uplands of the BBC in Scotland, he has reached the peaks of his profession with BBC network radio in London. And he's never afraid to work a metaphor beyond endurance.
In addition, he's appeared on most of the BBC's TV channels, including ones that are no longer on TV. He witnessed the handover of Hong Kong and once asked Arnold Schwarzenegger a question - though he takes no responsibility for either. For nearly 20 years, he has been at the helm of Radio 4's PM: a nightly news round-up that means Eddie works for just one hour a day, giving him plenty time to knock together these diaries.
Whether he's interviewing politicians, getting people to share their personal experiences or just imparting his favourite zesty chicken recipes, Eddie is never happier than when he is at the microphone. Except when he is at the microphone with a large martini.
In truth, his neediness is an irritation to everyone who knows him and if you buy this book he might get out of their hair. Eddie's other work, as a humanitarian and tireless, secret worker for charity is not mentioned in this audiobook.

Great fun
I've enjoyed Radio 4's PM whenever I've caught it & now I love Eddie Mair. He's wonderfully whimsical & the book is a delight. I'm going to have another listen.
P.s I love Shatner too.

At least he read it himself
Unlike Rupert Piston, Eddie has the stamina to read the whole work. And very entertaining it is too.
Rupert can only manage the first and last chapter of his offering.

Not what I was expecting
This book is a compendium of Eddie's Radio Times columns.
Contains typical Eddie humour that I have come to love, over the year's of PM.

Real radio gold
Eddie is one of the very best broadcasters in UK radio. Razor sharp, laugh out loud funny and a real warmth that shines through. 10/10 brilliant.

Was interesting to hear his point of view.
I'm glad I downloaded this book to listen to and hear all about the main cause of the trouble between rhubarb pesticide and the very innocent Eddie Mair. I'm glad that rhubarb accepted all the blame for the spat.
I had a great laugh listening to parts of the chapters and others drivers must if thought I was off my heid !
I miss this wonderful presenter from our local station radio tay as he's still due me lunch ! Lots of best wishes from Eddie Niven.

A great voice for a writer
Any regular listener to BBC Radio 4 will not be disappointed. Any regular listener to BBC Radio 1 will find some of the words challenging but should give it a try anyway.

Fabulous, funny and fun.
A journalist's eye and comedian's wit makes this a brilliant book. A great audio book.

As a fan was disappointed
Must admit i was somewhat disappointed in this - far too much of copied material from the radio times - and often lacking in depth - truly sorry to say ..
