‏تدور أحداث هذه الرواية في قرية مسيحية لبنانية في نهاية سبعينات القرن الماضي. ‏يرتبط الرقيب المجند رشيد عثمان يا علاقة عاطفية مع كريستينا، ‏إحدى فتيات القرية التي هجرها شبانها نتيجة الحرب الأهلية في لبنان، ‏ولم يبق فيها سوى بعض العجائز و الكتيبة المسلحة التي ينتمي إليها الرقيب. ‏سيكون ظهور سهى دجه براييل على خط الأحداث ما يشبه الزلزال في "نقد" ذكريات الرقيب المجند على هذه الحرب الدموية المجنونة و إعادة تنقية وتوضيح الصورة التي لم تقرأ من قبل في سياق قاعدة محاكمة مرحلة بأكملها. لن يكون هناك محاكمات من النوع الذي نعرفه بطبيعة الحال. و إنما إعادة تصريف واعٍ للأحداث التي كنا شهوداً عليها في العقود الأربعة الماضية.
