Summary

A front-row ticket to the fight of the year: it's you vs. your brain.

There are plenty of books out there on how to survive a zombie apocalypse, all-out nuclear war, or Armageddon. But what happens when it feels like the world is ending every single time you wake up? That's what having anxiety is like - and How to Survive the End of the World is here to help. Or at least make you feel like you're not so alone.

From helping listeners identify the enemy to safeguarding the vulnerable areas of their lives, Aaron Gillies will examine the impact of anxiety and give listeners some tools to fight back - whether with medication, therapy, CBT, coping techniques, or simply a dark sense of humour.

Great for people not in the know

I've suffered from anxiety and depression for many years so I understand and agree with slot of what was said.
However, most people already will know a lot of this. It's a great book to send to others trying to understand.

Parts of the book were repetitive, to the point where I thought I was on the same chapter as previously.

Aaron does fairly well, hell I couldn't narrate a book. But a few parts, (quotes from others) I feel could have been read in another voice.

Not that much actually advice.

A lovely listen, but ultimately could have been said in one page. The repeated jokes are a little wearing.

Powerful, well written.

Powerful, emotive and funny. With empathy throughout, this is an absolute must ‘listen’ for ‘ordinary’ folk who just need to know they are not alone, and it is ok to, not only have, but are able to talk about anxiety and depression.
It will also be invaluable for people who know people who struggle. An amazing insight. And all written with positivity, letting all who listen know that, at last, at long last, anxiety and depression are normal emotions. No longer needed to be treated with kid gloves, just with love and kindness.

Practical, realistic and empowering - and enjoyable

Enjoyed this so much, it did not feel like a self help book but a friend being realistic , relatable and helping you feel you can deal with anxiety- and are not alone. With a dollop of humour and understanding of the real issues and how to deal with them. The best non fiction I’ve read in ages- brilliantly written and narrated

Excellent book

Great book that tackles a difficult subject quite well. The author is basing it on their own world so it should be taken as such. But he does give a lot of insight into it and his issues. He alzo narrates it well. I recommend it to all.

Funny, and all round great! Unless you're a moomin

I loved this book! I downloaded it on the basis I found some of the author's tweets funny. Therefore I went in not knowing what I'd get with this book. But it walks the line of comedy, tragic awkwardness and knowledge of the subject matter brilliantly. It gave me a better understanding of anxiety and I can't recommend it enough. Buy this book!

It all makes sense!

Loved the book and I think the author did a great job at describing anxiety and the effects it can have on people. I related to this book so much and I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling.
