London Society takes their problems to Sherlock Holmes. Everyone else goes to Arrowood
South London, 1896. William Arrowood, Victorian London’s less salubrious private detective, is paid a visit by Captain Moon, the owner of a pleasure steamer moored on the Thames. He complains that someone has been damaging his boat, putting his business in jeopardy.
Arrowood and his trusty sidekick Barnett suspect professional jealousy, but when a shocking discovery is pulled from the river, it seems like even fouler play is afoot.
It’s up to Arrowood and Barnett to solve the case, before any more corpses end up in the watery depths . . .

Victorian detective drama at its best.
Great story brought superbly to life by equally great narration. Looking for more of this

Terrific
The gritty realism of London in the late 1800s is a first-rate contrast to the London of Holmes & Watson - I enjoy both. I’ve listened to all three Arrowood stories now & am looking forward to the fourth, in 2021. The narrator is outstanding.

Enjoyable
Bought this as a BOGOF and wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Set in the Victorian era against the backdrop of the London slums/the Thames a dastardly deed is done. Our hero who has a chip on his shoulder against Sherlock Holmes tries to work the mystery out with the help of a few friends.
It’s a fast moving novel which is well read.

Dark
A very well thought out narrative with twists and turns. Takes you on a journey through the dirty streets of London past. The characters are very believable, transports you to another time where violence an every day occurrence. Gripping well narrated, much enjoyed.

Excellent
This is the third Arrowood story and they just get better and better. The stories are rich with detail and the narration really brings the out the depth of the characters. The idea of Arrowood being critical of Holmes is inspired and very well played throughout the books, definitely worth a listen.
