About this listen

A CHILLING NORFOLK BROADS CRIME THRILLER!

A hanging man's body found by an uncontrollable dog, a murdered historian with an unpublished book, and a mysterious cottage, hiding in the shadows of Bluebell Wood.

Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy Norfolk murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance, one that will have you guessing until the very end, when the last shocking twist is finally revealed.

Bluebell Wood is a totally addictive gripping crime thriller, the ninth in a chilling series of serial killer books, ones which will rapidly convert followers of L J Ross, Faith Martin, Joy Ellis, Damien Boyd, J M Dalgliesh, and Elly Griffiths into David Blake devotees.

When the lead protagonist becomes a fool

I skipped a few of these books. Some of the changes are very welcome but when did Tanner become slightly foolish and a bit stupid?

The Tension of Marriage.

The usual crime process, with all the twists and turns to be expected. Aligned with a tetchy marriage imminent, clouding all these events. Now read on…

Bluebell wood was narrated beautifully by Jonathan Keeble

Another DC Tanner mystery set in Norfolk, this time with a young man found hanging in Bluebell Wood, a murdered historian with an unpublished book and a wood about to be destroyed by a property developer. And all of this taking place the day before Tanner is to be married, so the sense of foreboding and running out of time pervades the book. It was ok and ended well but I think I’m done with this series as there is so much yelling and anger from Tanner’s boss who expects the impossible. I actually wonder what that boss actually does. And the stories are pretty much the same each time.

Of course the narration by Jonathan Keeble is the reason to keep listening to anything.

Great narration

A good story line with great characterisation. A quick paced thriller, which is always entertaining from this author and, as ever, expertly brought to life by Jonathan Keebles. Yet another great listen.

Another excellent Tanner book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love the dry humour that runs through all of these books, with many of the exchanges between Tanner and his Team making me laugh out loud.
The plots always have lots of twists and turns and build to an exciting conclusion.
Excellent writing, which is brought fantastically to life by Jonathan Keeble's always superb narration.
Long may this series continue, as it just gets better and better.
