Summary

Meditation is everywhere: your mobile phone, clothing stores and even in colouring books. But where does it come from and what even is it? With the help of neuroscientist Ash Ranpura, comedian Alice Fraser explores the science, history and culture behind meditation. On the way we will meet the tiny part of the brain that triggers most of our fear and anxiety, the NBA coach who taught Michael Jordan how to meditate, and the writer who says the best way to cope with our polarised politics is to practice mindfulness.

Interesting overview

Some nice insights into the world of meditation however sometime a bit rigid and corporate - feel it is designed for people uncomfortable with their spirituality which isn’t a bad thing, just seems a little condescending if you are a bit mystical

Great series

By far the best series on meditation. Informative, interesting, funny and not preachy. Guests were inspirational. Thank you.

I wanted to like this

I just couldn’t get into this, the way it was presented was too scripted and didn’t flow like most other podcasts.

Brilliant

Explains a lot about medication from a scientific point of view. Lover it and will listen again.

Introduction ?

Although overall I enjoyed this ‘book’ it was more of a podcast than a book and I found it very irritating the way they referred to the sections as ‘shows’.
For anyone who expects from an introduction to something that it will teach you how to do it, don’t expect that here; there is only an inkling of it.
I think the presenters think of it as being a bit of an introduction to the science of meditation. It is successful at prividing that but in a very pop way so there is no sense in which at the end you have much of a bibliography allowing you to follow up on any of the aspects discussed more deeply.
I didn’t start out with zero knowledge on the subject but I did learn some things so b if you really want to find out about the benefits of meditation and are happy not to be taught how to do it then you’ll enjoy this.
I didn’t know how to give a star rating for ‘story’ because it’s not a story so my evaluation for that reflects the fact that the content wasn’t as in depth as I would have liked and the potentially misleading title.

Loved it!

I’m a Vipassana meditator (I’m guessing Alice is too) and was a little sceptical when I saw the title but I really enjoyed this. It was on point as they say! Light hearted and interesting podcast

Interesting

Proper info on meditation and the history but presenters sometimes silly ad libs were a bit annoying!

Emotional, heartbreaking and powerful

Having followed Lucy since xfactor, and already knew what happened to her. I feel extremely proud of her. Lucy you are an inspiration for the young generation with your talents and resilience. What a fighter and talented women. it took me less than 3 day to listen to the book, it’s beautiful written, raw, emotional and inspiring. I am so glad you can tell your side of the story’s and you can show the world the strong women you have become. It’s beautiful to hear that the outcome of writing this book you have made friends with Simon and made some kind of peace . Be strong and keep be the amazing artist you are . X
