About this listen
How to dream your way to health and happiness.
Dreams can have a powerful effect on our waking life - we've all woken happy and refreshed from a particularly pleasing dream or scared and sad because of a vivid nightmare. In this practical how-to guide, Dr Clare Johnson shows how we can learn from and guide our dreams in order to lead healthier, happier, more mindful and fulfilling lives. She takes us step by step through understanding the language of dreams, waking up in our dreams, and finally transforming our dreams to improve our waking life.
Each chapter is packed with helpful tips, cutting-edge scientific findings and fascinating examples of how people have used their dreams to improve their lives and increase mindfulness. This includes a woman who quit smoking after seeing a 'black lung X-ray' in a dream; a young offender who changed his ways after he dreamed of feeling safe and loved; and a woman who confronted her fear of death in a lucid dream and overcame it.
Written and read by Dr Clare Johnson.

Lucid dreaming making its way into dreamwork
Any additional comments?
This is to my knowledge the first book in English to incorporate lucid dreaming and lucid dreaming techniques into psychological dreamwork. The author provides good and illuminating examples of how this is to be done, and a good and varied list of techniques to work with dreams and not the least with waking life. Dreams are, for most of us, after all primarily about our waking lives.
More spiritual dreams are usually awarded us only when we have cleared up waking life, and I think Dr Johnson steers us well clear of the pitfall of delving into "spiritual" interpretations of dreams that are really about our everyday life before also showing us a path into spiritual or "higher" dreaming.
Performance-wise, she speaks in a clearl, friendly and unhurried voice - quite unlike what you often hear in spiritual or psychological audio books. The only downside is a certain sibilance in the recording, so the plosives and s-es come across a tad too strong.
In total, this is a book I would recommend to anyone interested in dreamwork. I also hope it will be the springboard for further books on this interesting topic.
