Is there something wrong with Ginette Cox? It’s what everyone seems to think. When a doctor suggests that what she might need is less excitement, she packs up and moves from New York City to a house in suburban NY: 19 Howard Ave.

Disappointed
Love Simone St James books but this I couldn’t not listen long as so could not get into it because of the narrator

Fans of Simone St. James don't waste your credits
I've really loved some of her books but this is terrible, I struggled to finish it. The main character is so irritating and unbelievable. Main premise: woman has a breakdown and struggles with her mental health. Or is she seeing ghosts? Who cares! She's annoyingly conceited and clearly very unwell but so beautiful that she gets the man and everyone loves her anyway. Just...what? This was a great opportunity to highlight an important issue with sensitivity, it ended up pushing the message that mental illness isn't sad and something that devastate lives but a minor inconvenience when you have a pretty face. Even if youre deeply unpleasant to others. The misogynistic undertones made my blood boil.
I usually love this narrator too and she was one of the reasons I purchased this book but the whiny drawl the main character is given as she tells us repeatedly how irresistibly beautiful she is made her even more unlikeable.
1 star for the total lack of plot, character development or sense made in any of this.
3 stars for the narrator doing as best she could with what she was given. I'm starting to wonder if she knew full well this is twaddle and actually did a genius attempt at making us see what a whiny car crash our 'heroine' is. Bravo if so, you make her utterly detestable.
I can't believe this is the same author as the good Sun Down Motel, is Simone St. James short of cash? Or perhaps she just lost the will to live halfway through this and just got it over as quickly as possible. I know the feeling Simone, I know the feeling...
