Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Ten years ago, Harold Fry set off on his epic journey on foot to save a friend. But the story doesn't end there.
Now his wife, Maureen, has her own pilgrimage to make.
Maureen Fry has settled into the quiet life she now shares with her husband Harold after his iconic walk across England. Now, ten years later, an unexpected message from the North disturbs her equilibrium again, and this time it is Maureen's turn to make her own journey.
But Maureen is not like Harold. She struggles to bond with strangers, and the landscape she crosses has changed radically. She has little sense of what she'll find at the end of the road. All she knows is that she must get there.
Maureen Fry and the Angel of the North is a deeply felt, lyrical and powerful novel, full of warmth and kindness, about love, loss, and how we come to terms with the past in order to understand ourselves and our lives a little better. While it stands in its own right, it is also the exquisitely moving finale to a trilogy that began with the phenomenal bestseller The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and continued with The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy.

A journey towards understanding
A beautiful end to the trilogy. A journey towards understanding. I shall definitely be reading it again and forgiveness. Congratulations.

A beautiful end to the series.
This book finishes the story of Harold, Queenie and Maureen beautifully. It is sad, but the pain comes full circle and it does finally ease for Maureen as it did for Harold and Queenie. Home truths are faced after decades of shutting it out.
The narration is excellent. I loved all 3 books of this series. You must read them in order, of Harold Fry, Queenie Hennessey and Maureen Fry.

The Angel(s) of the North: Maureen
What can I say about this wonderful book. Rachel Joyce a gifted storyteller . She doesn’t hold back, I laughed out loud on numerous occasions whilst listening ( and got strange looks from lots of people, I didn’t care ). Then I was at the other end of the spectrum, a lump in my throat followed by tears rolling down my cheeks. So many angels ( I’m divulging anymore ).
Everything tied up beautifully and the pièce de résistance was the fabulous Penelope Wilton reading the book. Most definitely a worthy sequel to Rachel Joyce’s first book: The unlikely pilgrimage of Harold Fry

We get to know Maureen better and the story was very interesting. I had to keep listening.
Penelope Wilton is the perfect narrator. I loved the pilgrimage of Harold Fry and this book is a close second.

Emotional and brilliant
I’ve loved all three in this series. This one is shorter (wish I’d realised before spending my credit!) but very much worth the price, listened to it in a day and finished with tears streaming.

Lovely to hear Maureen's side of the story
I loved Harold, Queenie and now Maureen's story. They are written so well, so believable, sad and happy.

Brought tears to my eyes
I listened to this book expecting to be slightly underwhelmed. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had previously struggled to relate to Maureen in the previous book, finding her a little bit of a cold fish- intentional I am sure. With this in mind with no spoilers attached, I was deeply moved and touched by her utter humanity. Still a very difficult character to make connections with, but one that I certainly wanted to hug by the end of her story. I was overcome by her emotion(and mine) and am now very happy to have been given the opportunity to travel on her journey.
