About this listen

There is a plot to kidnap Queen Victoria and only Sherlock Holmes can stop it...or can he?

Investigating a crime seemingly unconnected to the Royal Family, Holmes & Watson uncover a conspiracy to kidnap Queen Victoria and destabilise the British Empire.

With a ticking clock to her next public engagement, Holmes and Watson must discover who is behind the plot and locate her majesty, while Mycroft tries to keep the monarch’s disappearance a secret from the British people.

At first, Holmes believes Moriarty is responsible for the abduction, but when the Napoleon of Crime is proved innocent, Holmes must work with his arch-nemesis to rescue the Queen.

John Watson saves the day

A magnificent cast fills out this Holmes mystery, managing to keep me trasfixed through some cringworthy dialog in the early scenes of the production. But this is more a Watson story then the great conculting detective's, with John's Holdbrook-Smith taking the lead as Watson . That takes nothing away from the rest of the cast who all bring their A game, as the plot twists and turns and Sherlock's mind leaps from reduction to reduction as the search for the Queen develops.

Well worth a credit !

Thoroughly enjoyed this romp through Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson’s world. Great story and wonderful acting by the cast. The writers did not stray far from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original style or content. Kept me guessing until the end !

elementary

I thoroughly enjoyed this play. what an amazing plot line and the twist of the plot is amazingly done.
I must say my favourite character as always is Watson. a good hearted and strong natured man with the conviction of his love for his fellow man.
my only real dislike of this play is the sound of what should be walking in and out of rooms. it's very obvious it's in studios, due to the matted sound and lack of echo.
it's a petty dislike as this is an amazing plot lined play and the characters are played beautifully. and ivy's accent changing is incredibly well done.

No chapters…

It’s not difficult, many people spent hours creating this but Amazon or whoever couldn’t spend seconds to include chapters?

Great all round dastardly deeds

A good old-fashioned romp through Victorian England with brilliant character voices, a great mix of plot and story, believable characters, if very over the top, but in a good way. But a thoroughly enjoyable listen with characters played by actors who understood what the listener wanted. I loved it and would hope for more.

An interesting story with drawbacks.

Overall performances pretty good apart from the god awful Watson whose accent and delivery is painful, having looked up the actor I discovered he is a Ghanaian British actor, not sure it is right for a poc to be playing a white character and if so at least play it well , but I am pretty sure there would be uproar if a white actor played a black character on Audio, now I know this happened in the past but these days it should apply both ways.
