About this listen

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Fork, the Witch and the Worm by Christopher Paolini.

A wanderer and a cursed child.
Spells and magic.
And dragons, of course.
Welcome back to the world of Alagaësia.
It's been a year since Eragon departed Alagaësia in search of the perfect home to train a new generation of Dragon Riders. Now he is struggling with an endless sea of tasks: constructing a vast dragonhold, wrangling with suppliers, guarding dragon eggs and dealing with belligerent Urgals and haughty elves. Then a vision from the Eldunarí, unexpected visitors and an exciting Urgal legend offer a much-needed distraction and a new perspective.
This volume features three original stories set in Alagaësia, interspersed with scenes from Eragon's own unfolding adventure. Included is an excerpt from the memoir of the unforgettable witch and fortune-teller Angela the herbalist, penned by Angela Paolini, the inspiration for the character, herself!
Relish the incomparable imagination of Christopher Paolini in this thrilling new collection of stories based in the world of the Inheritance Cycle.

Well written, expanding the world of Alagaesia

This is really 3 linked stories, but they expand the world of Alagaesia nicely and further Eragon's story. Can't wait for the next installment!

The dragon’s voices change but a lovely set

The great revisit to Eragon and his world along with changes that show the months and years passing but the only problem I had with it which got on my nerves as I was listening to it it was how the dragon’s voices were lack the same depth as in previous books but the narration was otherwise top niche and I look forward on many more tales

Good but shallow

As always Gerard Doyle is an excellent narrator and it was great to listen to the tales of the amazing characters created by Christopher in the Inheritance cycle. However, the story lacked depth and seemed to skim along the surface of events. I look forward to future stories.

Lovely 3 part tales to expand Alagaesia

I really enjoyed this little 3 part story, meeting old and new characters and I loved it all. I'll miss them until Paollini's next work in Alagaesia but I look forward to it!! Gerrard doyle once again great work and helps with my love for the characters haha. Although his voice for dragons is now underwhelming it was still a great job.

A nice set of short stories.

It’s so nice to return to Alagaësia after the end of the Inheritance cycle.

The three short stories give you a great insight as to what happened to some characters after the original books, and also gives an insight into the Urgals.

The performance of Gerard is as good as the other books. I really do like him as a voice actor for this series, but he completely changed Saphira‘s voice and though I felt before it wasn’t right, I got so used to it that Saphira’s voice in this one seemed wrong. The music is still there and annoying as the others but thankfully it is only a little at the start and end.

A lovely 'follow up', a must for any fan. Paolini is really starting to add depth to his world, I really enjoyed this.
