Gain awareness and then find relief
Like some other people I have talked to, I had gone through an awful lot of life without even realizing that instances in my past were particularly traumatic or that I live with a higher level of anxiety than a lot of my friends and family. The recent discovery that I have these things to work on and work through has meant that I have been trying to find methods that help me. After talking to a therapist about similar methods to the ones in this book I was excited to check it out. If you are mentally or physically suffering from any past trauma I recommend grabbing this book. The understanding of your current position and the kind but firm push to remind yourself you can take control of getting past it are both breaths of fresh air.

Helpful to learn new recovery techniques
Sometimes an audiobook will teach you something that seems so self-evident and potentially life changing, that I seemed surprised I didn't know this earlier. The Polyvagal Theory Handbook might be one of these ideas.
The idea that a nerve can help control and monitor so many health aspects of our lives is amazing. I really enjoyed the authors information on the body's recovery from trauma with exercises emphasizing the vagus nerve and the central nervous system. Listen to this audiobook to learn more and take some of your health matters into your own hands with the daily exercises that are included.

Finally Making Sense of my Anxiety
This book gave me a whole new way of understanding my anxiety and how it connects to my body. The concept of feeling “safe” in my own skin really clicked, and I’ve started using some of the exercises to calm myself when I feel overwhelmed.
Last week, I managed to stop a panic attack before it spiraled, which felt like such a win.
If you’re looking for a fresh perspective on trauma and healing, I highly recommend it!
