Summary

Rosaria, by the standards of many, was living a very good life. She had a tenured position at a large university in a field for which she cared deeply. She owned two homes with her partner, in which they provided hospitality to students and activists that were looking to make a difference in the world. In the community, Rosaria was involved in volunteer work. At the university, she was a respected advisor of students and her department's curriculum. Then, in her late 30's, Rosaria encountered something that turned her world upside down - the idea that Christianity, a religion she had regarded as problematic and sometimes downright damaging, might be right about who God was. That idea seemed to fly in the face of the people and causes that she most loved. What follows is a story of what she describes as a train wreck at the hand of the supernatural. These are her secret thoughts about those events, written as only a reflective English professor could.

If only all Christians were this real! God bless Rosaria and all the Butterfields!

A book, and a testimony like Rosaria’s so close to my own is incredibly precious to the soul searchers and truth seekers. I feel seen, understood and drawn to the vulnerable pages and heartfelt sharing that Rosaria shares. This book has helped me in my own journey, so much just to know there are true blue Christians out there like Rosaria. God bless her soul. 🙏🏻

A very good read but come open minded

So good really challenged my assumptions, have tissues for last chapters. At times I was tempted to stop listening but I'm glad I stuck to the end. I found rosaria challenging my Christian stereotypes and I'm glad for it. The last chapters was heart warming and breaking at the same time. Well worth the read!

Second listen - and I know I will read it again!

I love the honesty, rawness and challenge of this book. Not shying away from any parts of the Bible, including radical love and compassion - living it out. Thank you Rosaria for sharing your story.

Honesty

It is lovely to hear an unsanitised account of God's ability to cause us to see things His way - we've all been there - if we're honest; our pasts, and present, are as individual as we are but, without Him, our end is all the same.

Great story of Grace & Adoption

Great story of God’s grace and how God adopts us into His family regardless of who we are and what we’ve done.
