Summary
In the third in the epic fantasy series, War of the Archons, the war of the gods continues to threaten all existence.
As its neighbors muster for war, the city-state of Kantor clings desperately to neutrality. Suraan, the queen regent, is beset on all sides, her son Rahuul still too young to take the throne. As his elder sister and guardian, Adaali’s only purpose is to protect Rahuul from would-be usurpers. But dark forces are at play from within and without, and she must seek help from the most unlikely of places - or be consumed by the war of the gods that threatens to destroy the very fabric of her world.

Abercrombiesqe in ambition
Derek Perkins is a masterful narrator bringing to life epic tale. He really helped raise the level of the storytelling. I hope Ford has further to develop as a writer because I like what I've heard so far.
However it can be a little repetitive and clumsy at times. It's tempting to make things crystal clear to the audience but trust the readers to follow a story ark. I really enjoyed the trilogy but thought this novel was the weakest of the lot

5 Stars Must Listen
This is a great series from the first book (A Demon in Silver ) the second (Hangman's Gate ) & this tital The Spear Of Malice , This is the first time I have had the pleasure of books from R. S. Ford & I can now say I am a fan these are definitely aldult fantasy & not for the easily offended by bad language or brutality , all these books are worth your credits & depending on the tier you have on your subscription you can get the first two books for free , I am now off to see what else R. S. Ford has for me to listen to on Audible, oah & did I mention that the fantastic Derek Perkins narrates all these books & 5 stars for his performance, so go ahead listen or read you will not be disappointed.

Simply brilantly briliant.
This has some fould language but used briantly to give individual character to charactors. The reading is excellent and i laughed out loud often with the dark moments accompanied by expletives as cgaractors exspressed themselves. some good twists, turns and unexpected charactor deaths and...well enough said. Just read the bloody thing.

Classic fantasy
A very pleasant trilogy! Magic, betrayal, intrigue, tension, what more could you want?
Nothing too novel or out there but sometimes there doesn't need to be.
A good story that's well worth picking up. Decent characters and plots and mechanics. Dark tones without being depressing. A solid read, overall.
