About this listen

Kadia Greene believed she had found her place in the digital realm, but her new life is upended when she is abruptly pulled back into the harsh reality she thought she had left behind forever.

Torn between the lure of returning to her digital haven and the unresolved issues of her past, Kadia faces the daunting challenge of navigating her new circumstances while grappling with a fractured sense of self. Each decision she makes now will not only define her future but also force her to reconcile the person she was with the person she must become.

Kind of disappointing.

Before listening, i was wondering why the ratings were so bad, but now i get it. It feels a lot like filler content. The whole book goes in a big circle only to end up where we started. I feel like it would be easy to cut away 4-6 hours actual content without anything of value being lost, Like at some point they are discussing how sure the MC is of a choice, for like an hour, only to do it all over again an hour later. significant stuff does happen so it's not like the book is skipable.

It's a bit disappointing as i was really looking forward to this book and now i have to wait again in order to get some actual content.

feels like TERA close to shutdown

TLDR: skippable, can be sumarized as "MC get sikk then gets better, timeskipp happens"

this book largely chuks the interesting parts of the previus 2 books: charakters, alchemy and sotial dynamics in order to take a U-turn into the C-plot traging inn themes of coruption (economic & sotail), transhumanism, AI, game development, death and free will.

it lets the main charakter have little or no real agency while what sounds like an aktualy teppedly interesting political infiltration sory is unserimoniusly skipped.

a hole load of stuff that ultimately barly matters happens, the already quite bloated charakter cast gets a pair litteral prersonalety clones of the MC added to it, the above themes are slapped in the mostly helpless main charakters face one after annother. she then gets handed her own super spetial poket dimention, a unseimonius level upp and gets yeeted back into the previus story while the author presumably pats themselves in the back for doing sutch "exelent world building".

i fully expekt this hole book to barely matter at all later on in the story despite having achived little more than downgrading its own worth after writing the book equivalent of the horde of promotions, boosts, interface gore and desperate imersion-breaking slop a struggeling MMO throws as you log inn again after a few years.
