10-05-2024 - Geomagnetic, Solar, and Radio Activity Observations and Forecast

  • Summary

  • Hey there, weather enthusiasts! Ready to dive into the cosmic forecast? Let's take a look at what the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center has in store for us over the next three days.

Starting off with geomagnetic activity, it looks like we might be in for a bit of a show. The Kp index is predicted to reach up to 7.00, which puts us in G3 (Strong) territory. Expect some storming on October 5th and 6th, with a slight chance of things ramping up to a G4 (Severe) level if certain space phenomena align – but no promises there. Things should calm down by the 7th with minor storming expected.

Moving on to solar radiation, there's a 35% chance of the proton flux hitting S1 (Minor) levels from the 5th to the 7th due to some active regions on the sun's western limb. Keep an eye out for potential solar radiation storms during this period.

And last but not least, radio blackouts are on the radar as well. We've got a 75% chance of experiencing R1-R2 (Minor-Moderate) radio blackouts, with a smaller 35% chance of things escalating to R3 (Strong or greater). So, don't be surprised if there's some interference in your signals.
