  • 10-12-2024 - Geomagnetic, Solar, and Radio Activity Observations and Forecast
    Oct 12 2024
Hey there, weather watchers! Time for a peek at what the NOAA's been tracking up in the skies. Let's break down the next 3 days in a not-so-typical weather report.

First up, we might be in for some geomagnetic action. Expect some minor geomagnetic storm vibes on October 12th, possibly reaching moderate levels. It's all thanks to a CME that's been making its way from the sun since the 9th, so keep an eye out.

Then, let's talk solar radiation. We're looking at a slight chance of a solar radiation storm event from the 12th to the 14th as AR 3848 glides towards the western limb. Nothing too major, but good to be aware of.

Lastly, radio blackout activity has been dancing around, hitting R1 levels most recently. We've got a consistent 60% chance of minor to moderate blackouts and a 25% chance of strong events through the 14th.

So, there you have it, folks! Keep your eyes to the skies for some interesting cosmic displays over the next few days. For more detailed info, check out the link in the show notes.

    Oct 11 2024
Alright, folks, let's dive into the exciting world of space weather! Here's your 3-day forecast, brought to you by the U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center.

Geomagnetic Activity Observation: Brace yourselves for some intense geomagnetic activity. Today, we're looking at a Kp index of 8.67 (G4) with strong to severe conditions. Tomorrow, expect a bit of a breather with a Kp index of 5.33 (G1), and by the day after, it's going to calm down even more to a Kp index of 3.33. Keep an eye out for those magnetic storms!

Solar Radiation Activity: The sun is shining bright out there! Solar radiation levels are high, with a forecast of S1 or greater at a whopping 99% for the next three days. So, grab those shades and enjoy the sunshine, but don't forget your SPF in space!

Radio Blackout Activity: It's not just about the visuals; we've got some radio blackouts too. Expect R1-R2 (Minor-Moderate) events with a 75% chance over the next couple of days. There's also a possibility of isolated R3 (Strong or greater) events, so stay tuned in for any interstellar static.

Hey there, weather enthusiasts! Ready to dive into some out-of-this-world forecasts brought to you by the U.S. Department of Commerce's NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center? Let's break it down for the next 3 days.

    A. Geomagnetic Activity Observation and Forecast:
Hold onto your hats, folks! We've seen a Kp of 5 (G1) in the past 24 hours, and we're expecting things to amp up to 8.33 (G4) between Oct 10 and Oct 12. Brace yourselves for potential G4 (Severe) conditions, with the slight chance of reaching G5 (Extreme) levels. Sounds like Mother Nature is putting on a show!

    B. Solar Radiation Activity Observation and Forecast:
The solar radiation levels have been off the charts lately, and we're looking at a continuation of S1 or greater storms, with an 80% chance on Oct 10. As we move towards Oct 12, that percentage drops to 30%, so enjoy the light show while it lasts!

    C. Radio Blackout Activity and Forecast:
We've experienced some radio blackouts at R3 levels recently, and the forecast shows a high probability of R1-R2 (Minor-Moderate) events on Oct 10 and 11. Keep an eye out for isolated R3 (Strong or greater) blackouts through Oct 12.

So, there you have it, folks! Stay tuned to the skies as things might get a little wild out there over the next few days. For more detailed info, check out the link in the show notes.
